Give him the platform to make an arse of himself.
I wonder if he will get asked about the RWB Festival he attended down in the midlands...

The Tories have publically stated they are prepared to meet him on this platform and partake in 'reasoned' debate.
Previously the policy of Labour has always been to not give credence to the BNP so they generally do not debate with them, or agree to appear at events/debates that the BNP will be at. However recent defeats in Europe and the stance of the Tories has left them with less certainty on the right course of action. As such they are yet to officially comment on whether or not they will also appear on the same episode of Question Time.
What do you all think about this?

they should put him on with a represenative of the monster raving loony party. they're about the same level of sanity.
They should get George Galloway on with him, would love to see that.
it would be sweet if the bill was Nick Griffin with Abu Hamzah, pure pay per view event
i think i would be interested to see this. the programme would probably attract a high viewing figure for the bbc, Not that im saying thats any good thing!
Useless device, it wont suffice

If nothing else I think a lot of people who aren't too clued up on what he's all about will get a bit of a shock, and hopefully the message will get across far better than banning him from TV, or from purely hearing the BNP are evil from folk handing out anti- BNP literature on the street. It's probably partially at least due to voter apathy and lack of public interest / knowledge they did so well in the European elections in the first place.
Folk should have the right to make up their own minds and get to see him grilled like other parties. Whether you take them seriously or not they have European MP's representing your interests. We live in a supposed democracy, and as such folk should be allowed a platform for debate / speaking...even if they aren't views I share myself.

Whereas it'll be amusing to see him make an arse of himself, putting him there in the first place gives him a air of legitimacy. Whatever he spouts that will make reasonable people facepalm themselves till they have concave noses will undoubtedly be lapped up by the actual supporters, and they'll think 'fuck yes, it's on tv now'.
Do we really think that supporters of the BNP regularly watch newsnight?
All you are really saying Shannow is that folk who have made their minds up about the BNP have made their mind up about the BNP...
Unless you think there are a large number of newsnight viewers who would have their political opinion swayed by a bug eyed racist.

Yeah, we live in a supposed democracy, yet fuck all people in Scotland voted for the boss-eyed shitter, yet he's representing us in Europe.
also, I don't think the BBC are really allowed to broadcast views which may well contravene laws against incitement of racial hatred, which is probably what stopped them before he ended up in the unfortunate position of power he's in now.
Yeah, sad as it is, the BNP have transcended that position, and are now very much "credible" in the public eye.
Minority parties will always gain from an unpopular government.
