This thread is is pretty stupid and does show a lack of understanding about cultural differences. Having the words "butchered" and "Arab" in the title is funny though, could a less appropriate term have been used?

at the end of the day what does it matter? Nobody here is seeing these episodes, it has virtually no relevance at all. Try getting worked up about something that really matters.

The version of Aliens that was shown on ITV once was even worse, i'm positive that Ripley had certain words replaced in a male voice. Even after midnight they changed "fucking" to "frigging". Ironically no gore was removed, just naughty words.

Jzy - My point is that the "new version" of the Simpsons didn't just change a few jokes because the humour wouldn't translate. They altered the entire premise of the show, because they apparently find it offensive.
They could have made their own, unrelated, non-offensive show, but obviously The Simpsons wasn't so offensive that they didn't want to capitalise on its popularity.

I will say this one more time: Shows are altered, drastically sometimes, for other countries and cultures. This is normal and, as long as the owners of the show agree, I can't see anything wrong with it.

there's nothing "wrong" with it, it's just that it's essentially a brand new cartoon serise with "simpsons" on it....even though it's not the simpsons
