| Re: The Future I wish I had your self-belief.
I aspire to be a songwriter. I think I enjoy writing whether its songs or stupid poems or stories. But i don't write enough of anything to consider myself doing it as a career. I wanna be in my band for many many years as long as we're all enjoying it and are friends, like now. |

I'm never happy with mine, not that im a grumpy old bastard, but it's the uncertainty and exposing of the soul that get me. Noel Gallagher once quoted someone famous when he said "if you want people to know nothing about you, don't write a song" or words to that effect.
Have you got any lyrics written down? Id be interested in having a gander. Quote:

Be a musician instead, takes more work but its much more fulfilling. | Why didn't you wanna be a singer? Out of interest.

Talking down to someone, acting superior, that kind of thing. I mean since when were singers not considered 'musicians'? |

| Re: The Future A singer can't just muster up a note as easy as a guitarist (or whatever) can play one. They have to find it from somewhere inside them.
Go listen to Frank Zappa's Montana (off Overnite Sensation). There is a vocal/xylophone unison somewhere in there - come back singing that exactly and up to speed and tell a singer to be a 'musician' instead. |

| Re: The Future I do both, and I happen to find playing a musical instrument more personally fulfilling than using my vocals as one. They're both enjoyable and artistically fulfilling to an extent but I prefer one over the other.
My own opinion, I didn't present it as anything else but. Sorry if you misunderstood me but, y'know, you can stop being a dick to me now. |

Oh, so you can be more condescending? As long as I know. Quote: |

| Maybe we present our opinions differently, but you said "Be a musician instead, takes more work but its much more fulfilling." to SoYeahThisIsMe. I just really don't think that's called for when somebody's talking about their aspirations as a musician!
Sorry if we got off on the wrong foot though, but Chiz is right, there's so much more to singing a note than playing a note. This might seem a bit odd to say, but most of my favourite musicians are people who phrase their instruments almost as if they are singing. |

| Re: The Future If you still think I'm being condescending at this point then I think its obvious that we got off on the wrong foot. She didn't take it the wrong way at least, so thats something.
I find playing more fulfilling than singing, the argument that theres 'more' to one than the other is totally subjective to who is singing or playing. Its also, no offence meant, something I'm not particularly interested in arguing about.
I wasn't being condescending, I'm sorry if you took it that way, but I'm not going to keep continually apologising if you didn't listen to the first apology. |

| Re: The Future Fucks sake, you return to yer friendly wee forum and find two blokes arguing 'bout nowt!!!
If I were Van Damme I'd implement a well-placed roundhouse at this junction.
No, Jonny - I were asking why you seemed reluctant that you are a singer, was it not through choice?
SoYeahThisIsMe - them lyrics are good, what's the song called? I've stuck some of my lyrics at my myspace page www.myspace.com/undecidedcat but that aint all that. Are you gonna release your song on a label? Or get yourself in a band? |

People downloading stuff into their BRAINS! or at least getting SMS mesage style stuff!!!
The term celebrity imploding whereby anyone and everyone has their own on-line blog type/reality show and Orwell's telescreens being installed into every home. |
