| Re: visiting Edinburgh this weekend....wheres good to go? Couple of decent pubs I can think of are The Black Rose(on Rose Street) and the Black Bull(Near St James Centre). However, these both get incredbily busy during the weekend.
Not so sure about Clubs, as I have only ever been to Opium when I have been through there

| Re: visiting Edinburgh this weekend....wheres good to go? I'll second Black Bull: good music, good atmosphere, and Renton famously sprinted down the steps by the front door in the opening of Trainspotting. I'd start there, while it's not too busy.
Then head across North Bridge to Whistle Binkies. They have live music every night (up to 6 bands). After that, you can either check out the Tron across the road or Bannermans down the hill from Whistle Binkies (both are popular with students).
To finish off, try either The Hive or Cabaret Voltaire (again, these are on the same block as the previous pubs), but make sure you check what's on first (or just chance your luck). |

| Re: visiting Edinburgh this weekend....wheres good to go? Depends what your into! For sort of rock/metal then Studio 24 for a club at the weekend or even upstairs at Opium. The Black Rose and Black Bull are good shout for pubs or The Tron which is quite cheap and downstairs at Opium. The Hive use to do a metal night on Sundays but think thats just on Weds now
If your into mainstream music and clubs that cost a tenner to get into then any pubs/clubs along George Street.
Cab Vol dont do a good metal night tho? Mostly drum n base and indie nights I think!

| Re: visiting Edinburgh this weekend....wheres good to go? I like Espionage up near the grass market..free to get in and has 5 floors. All different kinds of music but no metal/grunge if you like that sorta thing.
Liquid Rooms used to be good for Fridays kinda indie music not been in a long time.
Cavendish also used to be alright (not been for a good 5+ years)
Opium was good until i got a bit older and now everyone looks like 12 year old emo's.
Mood near the playhouse is alright if you wanna chat up lassies/guys, bit skanky though.
