First Bands confirmed for Matt Groening curated ATP Weekend 1 in May 2010!

We recently announced Matt Groening, genius behind the Simpsons and Futurama as curator for ATP UK Weekend 1 at Butlins, Minehead on May 7th – 9th 2010. He will choose around 40 acts to perform at the event.

Today we're very happy to be able to announce the first group of bands picked by Matt to perform at the event. They are:

BOREDOMS performing Boadrum – 9 Drummer Show
The Raincoats
Toumani Diabate
Danielson (formerly Danielson Family)
James Blackshaw
Anni Rossi
Viv Albertine's Limerence (formerly of The Slits)

Tickets for this event are on sale now from www.seetickets.com

They are priced at £160 per person for room only accommodation or £170 per person for self catered accommodation.

ATP May 2010 Weekend 2, curated by Pavement, is now SOLD OUT.

INSTALMENT TICKETS

ATP are running a deposit scheme for the festivals to make it easier for some people to pay. This scheme is set to close at the end of this week so any applications must be made now! We are offering a limited number of 4 berth apartments, both room-only and self-catering to be paid for with a small deposit upfront, and the remaining amount to be paid by the end of January 31st 2010. Both come with a booking fee of £7.50 per person (£30 per apartment). These apartments will be sold at £160 per person room only or £170 per person self catered.

People who would like to hold a 4 berth room only, must pay a deposit of £60 per person, (£240 for the apartment). The remaining £107.50 (£430 for the apartment) must be paid by January 31st.

People who would like to hold a 4 berth self catering, must pay a deposit of £70 per person, (£280 for the apartment). The remaining £107.50 (£430 for the apartment) must be paid by January 31st.

We have a handful of 6 berth room only and self catered available too; if you're interested please tell us.

As we will be holding the apartments for you, all deposits will be non-refundable, so please only apply if you are sure you can pay the remaining amount when it is due in January.

If you are able to pay through a normal ticket agency upfront for your whole apartment, then please do so and leave the deposit scheme for those people who find it harder to get the full amount together in one go. Also, remember those using this scheme will not receive the early bird discount tickets!

You will be required to pay both instalments by either cheque or paypal. Please note, that all cheques must be received and cleared within 5 days of you being accepted into the deposit scheme. If your cheque does not clear, or is not received, your application will go to the bottom of the queue which may mean you do not get to participate in the scheme this year.

Please email deposit(at)atpfestival.com with MATT GROENING WEEKEND in the email subject line if you would like to take part in the deposit scheme. Please include: your name, address, which type of room you want (room only or self catering) and which payment method you would like to use (paypal or cheque). You will then be notified if your application was successful and details of how to pay by your chosen method, or if you are in a waiting line. Applicants in the waiting line may be accepted if earlier applicants fail to make the first deposit in time. Deposit applications will be granted on a first come first serve basis.

ABOUT ALL TOMORROW'S PARTIES

All Tomorrow's Parties has been promoting festivals and concerts throughout the world for the last ten years. It was founded in the wake of Belle and Sebastian’s Bowlie Weekender, with Mogwai curating in the unusual setting of Pontins Holiday Camp, Camber Sands. Since then the festival has appeared every year and has expanded across the globe continuing to set itself apart from large scale corporate festivals by staying intimate and fan-friendly. The line-ups are chosen by significant bands or artists which results in eclectic events that combine performances by legendary and influential acts with appearances by the latest crop of experimental artists from any (and every) musical genre. The festival has become more successful with every passing year, and ATP events have taken place in the UK, USA, Europe and Australia, with past curators including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Mike Patton, My Bloody Valentine, Portishead, Sonic Youth, Slint, and Tortoise.

For ten years ATP has set itself apart from other festivals by embracing seemingly disparate artistic genres, with events featuring art exhibitions, cinema programmes, spoken word performances and stand up comedy. It's been called 'Unforgettable' by Spin and 'the most enjoyable festival experience of our reporter's life' by Pitchfork. It has spawned an acclaimed concert series (Don't Look Back), a record label (ATP Recordings), and the release of a feature length documentary about the festivals from Warp X, titled All Tomorrow’s Parties, out on DVD in November 2009. For more information and the trailer visit www.ourtrueintent.com

Hey forum, I really need your help!
My band Cursive Hearts are playing at Pivo Pivo on December 2nd as part of a Student Exchange programme ran by our uni, basically they end up choosing who will get to go to France or Germany and play a festival there and another date or two while there. They judge this, as far as I am away, on ticket sales and performance, so it would be great if some of you could come along and help us out!
Tickets are £4 and if you PM me I will get them to you.
You can hear our really bad demos at www.myspace.com/cursivehearts and see some live videos at www.youtube.com/cursivehearts

'Alec Empire is best known as a founding member of the band Atari Teenage Riot. Also a prolific and distinguished solo artist, producer and DJ, he has released well over a hundred albums, EPs and singles and remixed over seventy tracks for artists popular and relatively unknown alike. He was also the driving force behind the creation of the digital hardcore subgenre and the record labels Digital Hardcore Recordings and Eat Your Heart Out.

This year, he returns for another blistering series of live dates here in the UK that looks set to blow the roof off every venue it invades across the country.

‘1000 Eyes’ out on the 7th December is the new download only single taken from the award winning animated short film, ‘The Golden Foretaste of Heaven’. Following the critical acclaim of his mini album, ‘Shivers’, earlier this year, Alec channelled his dark energy into creating a brooding, mesmerising soundtrack to the hotly tipped film by Austrian rising star, Richard Wilhelmer.

Fresh from supporting Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails on their European leg of the tour, Alec will bring his awesome live setup to the UK showcasing material from a career spanning almost two decades.'

Support comes from BOMB BERLIN, Edinburgh based punk/breakcore/digital hardcore riot starters, and Metal Tech, local industrial/metal fusion.
Reading's progressive noise merchants The Arusha Accord return to Dundee! With the outstanding new album "The Echo Verses" and a phenomenal live show to boot, this is a show that cannot be missed, especially in the intimate confines of the Balcony Bar. And all the way from Vancouver, Canada come A Textbook Tragedy. A technical blend of non stop punishing hardcore and metallic grindcore. Think Pig Destroyer and Ion Dissonance meets Emmure and This Is Hell! Aye.... Mental! Tourmates Ghosts Of Pegasus Bridge from Southhampton kick things off on a different foot, a passionate and emotive blend of anthemic post hardcore and flawless metalcore, in the vein of Lostprophets and early Funeral For A Friend. Support comes from local lads To Catch A Predator, whose technical death/grind wizardry will certainly give the big guys a run for their money!

After the Austrian artist has achieved worldwide chart breaking success with his other projects L’AME IMMORTELLE and SIECHTUM in the past 11 years, he returns to his roots: the boiling dancefloors of industrial and goth clubs alike

Inspired by numerous years of Djing NACHTMAHR> is the missing link between merciless and provocative Industrial and the hammering power of Techno. The first release “Kunst ist Krieg (=art is war)” and it’s club hit “BoomBoomBoom” instantly conquer the dancefloors and earn the band a slot on the soundtrack of the American block-buster movie SAW 4

NACHTMAHR is much more than aggressive music for outcasts. It’s militant image and in-your-face lyrics might seem provocative in the first place, but as you dive deeper into the dark and sinister world of the Austrian project you discover the approaches towards modern society and it’s sicknesses. Even on the dancefloor there is room to think about all our daily nightmares.

With the release of the full-length album “Feuer frei!” the success of the EP was exceeded by far: Germany’s biggest and most influential dark music magazine ORKUS quoted: “This is the new standard for the electro industrial genre” and the club single “Katharsis” dominated the clubs for months which helped the album to stay in the top 10 of the German alternative charts for more than 6 weeks.

A lot more is planned, as for NACHTMAHR there is only one way: “world domination or demise!”
