I reckon the prick will sign a pre contract and leave on a free.
- Samaras is up for sale according to Greek Newspapers.
Not improved since he joined city all those years ago. Not good enough.
- McGeady is wanted by Brum.
I don't see Aiden opting for a move down south to the likes of Birmingham.
- Caddis on the way out.
He's sitting on the sideslines, not really breaking into the first team. He's good going forward, not so good at the back. He never really improved after his loan spell at Utd.
-As for Rangers, supposedly McGregor is wanted by Spurs on loan.
Paper talk? He was linked to spurs a few years ago, now their keeper is injured.

Who will come in and whether they do any better remains to be seen.

FERGUS McCANN tried to sign me for Celtic.
That's a cold, hard fact about Andy Goram that has lain hidden, a sensational story that's been buried. Until now.

Think of it: the nine-in-a-row legend who sparked the famous Tommy Burns quote, 'Put it on my tombstone: Andy Goram broke my heart,' playing for the Celtic legend's beloved Hoops.

Picture it: me smiling out from a Panini sticker album with a four-leafed clover on my chest.

The truth is it could never have happened, no matter how much that eccentric Canadian tycoon might have wanted it to. I could NOT have done it.

I found out about McCann's desire to pull off what would have been a stunning signing from Bill McMurdo, the agent who was offered the chance to broker the deal.

He was in Fergus' office one day when the man who had rescued Celtic from oblivion turned to him and said: 'I need a goalkeeper, and I have an idea. Do you think Goram would come here?'

Bill was choking with dis-belief, stifling his laughter, but Fergus was totally serious.

McMurdo knew there was no danger this would ever happen but he vowed to ask me. He did. The answer was no.

McCann was willing to take the flak and sign me for Celtic because I'd left Rangers and was an affordable, experienced option for him.

But me a Celtic player? Don't think so.

I have my beliefs, and when I was playing I was bitter. I drank in Protestant pubs and I was caught up in it. I don't hide from that. I don't regret it, and I'm not ashamed of it.

I am a Rangers man, and in my eyes Rangers men don't play for Celtic.

Did I hate Celtic when we played them? Yes, of course I did.

I ran out of the tunnel detesting the sight of them and even now I hate it when I see Gers players cuddling Celtic players.

For 90 minutes they need to hate them. It means too much to too many people.

Why hug someone you should be kicking to win the league? Sorry, but I was taught then if we won the Old Firm game, we won the league, so I wasn't about to wish them all the best. They are the enemy.

I didn't socialise with their players because we had nothing in common.

They were good Catholic boys, and we were seen as these hard-drinking maniacs. But who was winning the trophies? Us.

I'm not a bigot. I am a Rangers man. But like it or not, the bigotry is what makes the Old Firm derby the best game in the world.

Right from the off, I felt at home in that match. I'd been having a shocking time at Rangers before my debut in the derby, yet there are such fine margins. We won 2-0 at Parkhead and the £1million goalie from Hibs who'd been throwing them in all over the shop up until then had a clean sheet. Zero to hero.

The Hoops also had their share of players who revelled in the Old Firm madness.

I'll never forget Paolo di Canio making all these gestures and saying he would snap Ian Ferguson's leg. Wrong man to pick on, son. Fergie would have knocked f*** out of him.

Ian ran up the tunnel and waited for him in front of the dressing-rooms, but the little Italian had scarpered so quickly he was nowhere to be seen. Great player, but all show!

The only time I ever made both sets of Old Firm fans laugh at the same time Paolo was at the centre of it all.

He was called offside and started going mental, waving his arms at the linesman on the enclosure side and yelling, 'Hey you, bastardo. You cheat.'

This went on and on, and I was getting sick of it, so when he turned away before play restarted I kicked the ball at him. BANG! Direct hit, right on his napper.

He was seething. He turned to the ref and was screaming for a red card, shrieking, 'Look at this Goram. Bastardo!'

By then, the ball had bounced back to me and I couldn't resist it. I took aim, and once again the ball smacked him on the head.

Now even Paolo was smiling, even though he was foaming at the mouth, and the fans in the stadium were p***ing themselves. I loved that.

I rated Paolo as a player, and I also admire the Celtic men who live for the jersey. Men such as Peter Grant, Neil Lennon and Paul McStay.

I loved all the tussles in those games, fighting for everything against guys such as current Hibs boss John 'Yogi' Hughes.

I remember during one Old Firm match I jumped for the ball but was smashed into the back of the net by Yogi.

I was in a rage and we ended up pushing and shoving one another.

Yogi started shouting at the referee. 'Go on, send us off. You haven't got the f****** bottle.' He was taunting him, almost willing the ref to flash red cards.

Then he winked at me and said, 'They'll miss you more than Celtic will miss me.'

We got booked, and I walked back to my area laughing.
Rangers’ banker has threatened to put the football club into administration in a dramatic intervention to tackle its mounting debts.

Lloyds Banking Group issued the ultimatum to the club’s shocked board as the only alternative after it initially rejected a “devastating” business plan based on swingeing cuts.

The Herald can today reveal the extent of the turmoil at Ibrox that has left Rangers under the control of its banker. Lloyds has placed Donald Muir, who helped rescue Northern Rock, on to the board as its representative.

It can also be revealed that Dave King, the Glasgow-born multi-millionaire and former investor in the club, now based in South Africa, is the leading contender to buy Rangers. He has opened negotiations but is having difficulties in striking a deal for the club.

It is believed the price the bank wants for Rangers is £30 million, equal to the club’s total debt.

Sources close to the club told The Herald last night: “The business plan from the bank will only do one thing – strangle the club slowly. A new owner is a must or else Rangers will be in dire straits on and off the pitch.

“The board tried to fight it as much as it could, but was told it would be placed into administration. The effects of the business plan will be devastating.

“Dave King wants to buy Rangers, and there are others expressing interest, but the bank wants a premium price of £1 for £1 in terms of the debt so nothing is imminent in terms of a deal.

“Its stance is surprising when, across the country, it is selling off assets at 25p, 30p or 40p to the pound in terms of debt.

“But because this is Rangers, it is obviously viewing it differently. Maybe it feels wealthy fans will let their hearts rule their heads, but all the while the club is now entering dangerous grounds.”

There is also interest from businessmen in the west of Scotland, who could combine to add their resources to those of Mr King, or make their own moves to buy Rangers.

Former chairman Sir David Murray, who remained majority shareholder after he stood down on August 26, is no longer involved in making key decisions.

Mr Muir, who was placed on the board of Rangers nine days ago at the bank’s insistence, is now effectively running the club.

He has been put in to oversee an immediate attempt to reduce debts, which would include the sale of star players over the coming months subject to the bank’s approval, with no replacements.

The bank’s plan was put to the Rangers board this month and shocked its members, including new chairman Alistair Johnston and chief executive Martin Bain, who believe the club has to be kept as attractive as possible to lure a new owner or investor.

The board refused to accept the business plan the bank put in front of them.

However, they were told that Rangers would be put into administration – which would probably allow the bank to recover its cash – if the plan was not accepted by Friday, October 16. Later that day, Mr Muir was confirmed as a board member.

In the aftermath of Saturday’s match against Hibernian, manager Walter Smith admitted the bank – which is 43% owned by the taxpayer and now controls the Bank of Scotland brand – was effectively in charge.

Lloyds Banking Group said at the weekend: “The bank continues to be very supportive of both the club and the board as they manage the business through the more difficult economic conditions currently prevailing.”
