I also disagree with you on the point of suiting it. I think it's a lot easier to suit as it's in your mouth and not really something on display on your face like a big fuck off ring through your septum. I don't really see how you could not suit a tongue splitting
I also disagree with you on the point of paying someone to do it. Even miss bawkuki who's nearly a fully fledged doctor still gets pierced in a proper piercing place. Reasons for me going somewhere and paying someone to do it would be it's a completely sterile environment. Secondly, these people know what their doing, and can have a second person help if they need another pair of hands. Even with mirrors I doubt you could see properly under your tongue the bits you were cutting. To ensure you weren't cutting the veins under your tongue you'd need to put your head back a bit then cut so you could see in a mirror. i can imagine this would be a bit of a slower process than someone that could see completely into your mouth doing it.
I also don't like piercing myself and hold back a bit when doing it. I can imagine most folk with a sense of self preservation, subconsciously do the same to some extent. That's not really what I want from someone piercing me.
There's a HUGE difference between piercing an earlobe yourself say and cutting somewhere where there's big fuck off veins under your tongue. I for one wouldn't feel comfortable cutting my tongue in half because I know I have a big fuck off vein right down the middle and while it IS a simple proceedure, straightforward and everything else, cutting one of my veins, however small a risk, isn't really something I really want to risk
Similarly loads of piercers get other piercers in their studio to pierce them. It's not always for practise, I can imagine because it's just far easier, quicker, more painless and potentially more accurate depending where it is than doing it yourself. |

| Re: Tongue splitting you do have many good points there but i still reckon he's pulled it off really well regardless of it being painful and risky. i personally wouldn't have been able to go through it myself so i commend the boy for his efforts.

| Re: Tongue splitting the piercist in my shop has his tongue split. he also made plugs out of his nipples mind (anyone see him in recent bizarre?). When I met Marc (nirvana) I was drunk and I thought his tongue was awesome..but 16 was too young to make that decision, maybe not for him personally. |

| Re: Tongue splitting Laird Savage got his done down in london by Samppa von Cyborg (the finnish dude with EVERYTHING done). here's a pic
He got it done for our first wedding anniversary, which was interesting! The guys were very professional and anaesthetised the tongue, cut the wee dangly bit at the bottom (dunno what the real name is, frenulum or summat) and VERY VERY SLOWLY cut it in half. There was a LOT of blood and i was decidedly uneasy! both samppa and bawbee were champion! After the anasthetic wore off Adam was in lots of pain and for 2 days could only eat "thoup" which i found rather funny. he had to keep pulling the sides apart to stop it from closing up and it has healed back a bit. over a year on and he can wiggle both sides separatly and enjoys freaking paople out with it! And yes, it IS good! |

| Re: Tongue splitting I think that the guy who done it with fishing gut looks better than the cut ones I've seen 'cause it looks more rounded. I couldn't put up with that pain though, I was cringing reading the "instructions". |

as far as oral goes i belive it makes a good man better but a rubbish bloke is till rubbish.
and as for pain, the centre of your tounge is not muscle, it's joining tissue ( your tounge is 2 seperate muscles, hence why you can move them idenpendantly) so it causes very little pain and heals very quicly. speach issues are almost non-existant past those that a tounge piercing would give.
and Les, it's not quite irevesable. there was one guy in the US army or navy, who was forced to get it reversed by military doctors, ill see if i can find the article
*edit* air force, i was wrong twice http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20030410.html
as always, BME, take with a pinch of salt |
That really sucks. I would hate to lose my nipple piercings, but this procedure is really harsh. I would just have to take out my barbells.
