scarification can look very nice and cool if done well
why does anyone want to modfy their body?
individuality (scarification is very uncommon), ritualism (scarification looks more 'natural' than tattoos) and reclaiming their body (scarification can be done by yourself, and thus can have a more 'personal' feel)
but then again, that's just MY opinion

| Re: Scarification? well, i looked through scars on bme etc, i cant say i saw any that i thought looked good in my eyes.
i think if your at an interview, and the interviewer saw a scar that is obviously in the shape of something (ie self inflicted, or done by someone for you), it would have a much more negative effect than a similar tattoo. |

i cant even express how stupid and ignorant that post is and i'm not even going to bother to explain the obvious difference.

Joking.
I know some people who have performed self-scarification and it's really only one step above self-harm in the "LOOKATMELOOKATMELOOKATME!" attention-seeking stakes.
If you're going to have it done, find someone who knows all the theory behind the procedure and have it done PROPERLY.
You wouldn't try to tattoo yourself, would you? |

You wouldn't try to tattoo yourself, would you? | hence me looking into it, and its notthing like self harm, its just a variation on the tattoo body mod theme, scarification is asthetic, self harm isnt

SELF-scarification can be similar, depending on the circumstances.
Trust me. |

| Re: Scarification? possibly, but only in certain ways, if i were to self scar it wouldnt be for the same reasons i'd self harm. i wouldnt self scar though as i doubt i could numb the pain in a way i could still focus properly, i'd get someone i trusted with my life to do it, whoever they happen to be.
