| Re: Branding theres a useful link here on branding. Personally I dont see why its still illegal here, I suppose its better to get these things done by a professional than by someone underground where you cant be sure if they know what they are doing. I couldnt have it done, I burned myself on a kettle once and was whimpering like a baby for hours after it. Tattoos and piercings are as far as I will go Im afraid

| Re: Branding Ive done some branding because i dont want the obvious and permanent tattoos,
so far as I know nobody professionally brands in the Uk, but quite a few Diy botches and a few good designs ive seen. personally have two designs, one a dotted ( soldering iron with very fine point) design on foot( about 6 months old and healed nicely), and a still painful stomach tribal line scarring (strips of metal heated)
you have to remember that no matter what design you do the skin either side of the lines is burnt too through heat transfer . the stomach design used metal barely 1 mm thick but the scars ( only 3 weeks old ) are nearly 1cm wide. it also depends how long its held on for the top lines are poor because they were only on for 5 seconds. the lowers ones were upto 20 seconds ( burning flesh stinks ).
you must remember that when you tell people that you have branded yourself you do get really odd looks and they tend to think your mad. its one of those random mods that yo can never tell what the finished product will look like due to the nature of skins tendency to heal however it wants to. |

| Re: Branding Been reading up on firearms laws recently for various reasons and a lawyer type person pointed out that you can consent to be pierced despite it being assault. Quote:
Yup, piercing would be included in the category of assaults that consent applies to. It wasn't an exhaustive list, BTW, and probably changes as society changes.
For it to be a wound, it has to compromise each of the layers of the skin. Bleeding doesn't necessarily indicate a full-thickness break in the skin, AFAIK - but don't quote me on that, I'm a lawyer not a doctor, Jim
| The fact that its almost impossible to control the exact damage done by branding probably moves it into the grey area your talking about. Burns can go really deep with great ease so that might be why its thought of as illegal?
He also said this though Quote: |
However, there MAY be a defence of consent where there is "good reason", and good reason can include "properly conducted lawful games and sports, dangerous exhibitions, reasonable surgery etc"
| just what reasonable surgery means is anyones guess I think |

| Re: Branding It really is a bit of a grey area hence why few places openly advertise it. Strictly speaking it's perfectly legal since no tissue is removed and it's not considered to be a surgical procedure (providing they don’t do anything stupid like administer aninject able anaesthetic like I’ve seen done before!).
I know of a few places that do it in the UK-
Holier than thou in Manchester
Kalima
Modern savage in Yorkshire
Metalurgey in Dundee (I think)
Punktured in Brighton
Punctured in Devon
ehmmmm that's all I can think of off the top of my head but I know of a hell of a lot more people offering it privately... but I'd generally steer clear of that route.
I’ve only got one branding but I’m getting more scarification in the future. I had mine done by Fousage at Hell body modifications studio in Prague ( www.hell.cz). He used a mono polar electro-surgical unit and it hurt like a mother fucker.
I’ve been piercing for a while now and I’ve done a few brandings with disposable cuatery pens and its definitely the least painful way to go.
Here's what mine looked like the day (yum)- |
