| peoples problems with scarification/branding based on numerous talks with people who have never been able to tell me satisfactorily what they dislike about it other than "it's rank" I'm interested to know why people dislike it?
as far as I see it's doing the same (or less in most cases) damage to your body than tattooing would, you're not adding foreign objects (such as ink or jewellery for a piercing) |

Ripping open your flesh with a pair of freaking scissors does not.
Not to mention the fact that it's utterly pointless, as nobody actually likes pain, no matter how much they claim to. |

| Re: peoples problems with scarification/branding I'd agree with Zooropa. I think scarification looks messy, in my opinion and I have never seen an example where I've though "that looks good" But saying that, I don't see that there is a significant difference between this and getting a tattoo done. It's all down to personal preference I suppose. |

| Re: peoples problems with scarification/branding I strongly suspect the fact that there's no artificial angle is the very reason why people find its strange. With ink and jewellry, it's an obvious addition, not just a manipulation of what's there. With scarification, it's a warping without an addition of something obviously artificial or non-natural. I guess that's why people find it weird.
I know that sounds flimsy and irrational, but so many things which people feel are. |

| Re: peoples problems with scarification/branding I think it's hot! I guess its just another way of expressing yourself. Like everything else, some folk wont like it, i recon there was probably a time when tattoos were disliked just as much as this, but look at them these days. Personally, i think its really hot!

| Re: peoples problems with scarification/branding Heh, I got a scar on my elbow from getting jumped by two NEDs after the Assemblage23 gig, I don't get many people commenting on how hot it looks.
Same goes with cunts with scars from getting slashed to the face. It's not hot, it's mank!

Later Edge | One time I spilled a pot of ink down me, but no-one thought that looked cool either.

Not to mention the fact that it's utterly pointless, as nobody actually likes pain, no matter how much they claim to. | it's not scisors it's a scalpel, and the desired output isn't straight away (the same way as a tattoo, you need to wait for it to heal)
and pain wise it hurts less than a tattoo. and regardless of what you think pain can be very very enjoyable. Quote: |

I know that sounds flimsy and irrational, but so many things which people feel are. | that kinda makes sense actually, i never thought about it that way. Quote: |

It's all down to personal preference I suppose. | messy isn't something i would thought... if you have seen much healed stuff its very different to what a fresh cut looks like. if you see me about hit me upside the head and you can see mine. messy isn't a word i would associate with it at all. |

| Re: peoples problems with scarification/branding Well as i said each to their own. Obviously I wasnt talking about a cut on someones elbow. That isnt what we're talking about here.
