We are an all woman flat track roller derby league formed in Glasgow in Feb 2007. We are currenlty recruiting again and looking for female skaters over 18 who have what it takes to be a roller girl.

Well poprock, I'm assuming your reply was genuine. Here is a little explanation about our sport.

Roller Derby was started in the U.S. in the 1930's originally mixed sex teams skating in a race of endurance. Over the years certain rules and point scoring and a banked track was introduced and at its height it attracted audiences of 55,000 and was televised 3 times a week. It went into decline and was revived for a couple of year when inline skating was popluar. Then in 2000 in Austin Texas a group of woman revived it again, this time making it all female skaters on a flat track and introducing skater personas and a DIY punk attitude and ethic.

Glasgow Roller Girls are the 4th league to establish in the UK, there are currently now 10, and we train twice weekly. We took on Glasgow Councils no-skating ban in its facilities and have succeeded in them giving us a trial which we passed so hopefully this will open the way for other leagues with the same problem. We are completely skater owned and operated, self taught, trained and funded. We are very proud of what we have acheived so far.

The UK leagues are now in talks with the British Roller Sports Federation with the aim of getting our new sport recognised by them and the feedback has been very positive.

AWESOMEUS MAXIMUS, you obviously have too much time on your hands, we have vacancies for referees, if you are a skater then come and check it out, I'm sure the girls would love to meet someone of your amazing wit. But I get the impression you haven't had that much experience around the female sex.

Look up "Rolergirls" which was a tv series following this Roller Derby group in Texas in America. Fucking loved it so I did but never managed to get the final 2/3 episodes due to flatmate buggering off with the broadband modem
