Surf Scotland - Any experiences?

Any of you crazy cats had any experience of surfing in Scotland or Surfing period?

I've decided I fancy giving it a go or at least thinkinig about giving it a go and came across this website

http://www.clanskates.co.uk/surf.html

Good, bad or what?

Quite fancy three lessons to see if I'm into it.

Re: Surf Scotland - Any experiences?

Went surfing last year over by Edinburgh and was great fun, never managed to spend more than 2 seconds on the board mind and my arms were killing me by the end but at no point did I feel cold or felt this sucks. Keep meaning to go back but never seem to get the time free when the weathers right for it.

I'd recommend going and trying it out. You've nothing to lose.

right, bro is suggesting the forum at magicseaweed.com - but says be prepared for a slating, apparently some of the old guard are a bit angry these days as surfing's become more and more popular.

Re: Surf Scotland - Any experiences?

I started surfing in scotland couple o years ago...its pretty gd if your prepared to take the cold
In the west the main venue is probs machrihanish near campbeltown...couple of gd spots out there.
Clan skates are worth a shout...glasgow uni surf club use them for lessons...the boards they use r called swellys...big blue and yellow things, dont quite hav the kl surfer look, but fantastic for learning and great in some of the horrible choppy waves you often get in scotland!
Anyway still do the occasional bit of surfin...but now focusin more on kitesurfing...had enough of the paddling malarky!!!

Re: Surf Scotland - Any experiences?

Used to work with a guy who surfs down not far from Eyemouth.
I was meant to be going with him one Sunday, but it clashed with the Sportfight at Oran Mor.
Keep meaning to go with him though.
He loves it, got the winter wetsuit and stuff so he says the cold is never a problem.
