Go to West End cycles. As for brands, go for a Specialized. For just riding (no tricks) they're good. Go to Alpine and Dales for them. And shop around. Ask the guys who work there if they know of anyone, check the ads. Second hand doesn't mean bad. That's how I got mine. Cheers Andy at Dales

go to west end cycles and have a look at the FIT SERIES ONE complete bike. it is £350.00 i think and is the same frame as the american made series one.it is more a dirt jumping setup so the bike is nice and light, its got 36 spoke double walled rims.

this bike is so upgradable and is a fucking beast of a bike for the money.

also check out the WE THE PEOPLE bikes as they have a few nice bikes on the go,and the old favourite HOFFMAN BIKES. dont worry about stunt pegs and shit like that these things can be added later go for a bike that is light and strong and is easy to ride.

i wouldnt go to dales or alpine for a BMX as they dont specialize in them. a shop like WEST END IS GOOD as they have a good selection of parts and bikes and they are not in it for a quick buck.

Ruption 2003 Earl Urban
Ruptions expert level freestyle bike with great components such as deep section CNC rims with 14mm axles,Ruption 3pce crankset,39t/14t gearing and Kenda Kovert tyres.

is this awrite? its 200 bux.

on reading adverts, one thing that worries me is gearing, or ratios and shit? how easy is it to alter this?

Gearing on a BMX? Emm, no! The ratios are piss easy to change though. The sprocket on the wheel just screws off, a 5 minute job, and, although it takes a wee bit longer, changing the chainring is relatively simple when you're used to it. Maybe you should ask a bike person to show you how before you try yourself. I saw a cool star one I want.

$200 or £200? Either sounds great.

ANYWAY theres like a big hole dug out the middle of the hill!!! perfect starters half pipe!!! *goes off to find camera!!!

so yeah that bike, theres a couple nice lookin starter bikes on that site, plus they do a cool free delivery thing and no quibble money back bla bla bla http://www.bmx-shop.co.uk/top/default.asp

im now liking the cream frame on the Newboy... http://www.bmx-shop.co.uk/top/largepic.asp?id=239

the reason the bike is geared 14 39 is that it makes the drive train more compact keeping the chainring away form ledges and coping when your grinding.its just the same ratio as 16 44 but mor compact. i run 13 36 but i run a cassette on the back.

the freewheel doesnt just screw off ,you will need a freewheel remover tool and a vice.

DONT BUY THE RUPTION BIKE AS IT IS SHIT! FOR THE SAME MONEY YOU COULD GET A HOFFMAN ROYALE OR INSTURMENT FOR ABOUT 219.99 A MUCH BETTER BIKE FROM A COMPANY THAT DONT DEAL WITH HALFORDS AND ARE NOT IMPORTED BY SPLIT SECOND.

the build quility of the ruption stuff sucks and aint worth the money.
hope this clears things up

you ever tried to remove a freewheel with just an adjustable spanner?
it takes all day,but if you put the remover tool in a vice with it bolted to the wheel with the axle you can remove the freewheel with no effort at all.

Re: need buying advice

see, iv heard good and bad things about ruptions, but i also heard that the hoffman series was shite (it was a Royale i wanted to begin with) but im no planning on putting it through its paces too much to start wae so money and looks are higher up the list than durability etc... il be upgrading in bout 8 months i think tho

Re: need buying advice

we the people are great but their entry level bike is a heavy steel piece of shit, so it's a pain in the ass to do anything on. Nirve are the prettiest tho.

lets get back to basics boy hits car

you use a CHAIN WHIP when you are removing a mountain bike cassette to hold the rings when the lockring remover tool is doing what its name says it does.

a FREEWHEEL is a different story,as it doesnt have a lock ring it takes alot more force to remove it i.e. putting the tool in a vice and placing the freewheel on top of it.then you can use the wheel as you lever to turn to remove the freewheel.

do you understand now?
