| Re: 24' v 26' well i dont do much offroad or tricks, so ima say 26"
light offroad, mostly commuting and country traclks etc, tho that may change.
the bigger wheels get me more efficiency for what i do

| Re: 24' v 26' street and dirt? i'd go for 24 if youre building from scratch.
i cannae afford to rebuilt my wheels but i'd like a set of 24's
more clearance, fatter tyres.
mind you gotta use disks don't you? which imo is maybe overkill for street/dirt
hmmm... |

| Re: 24' v 26' ha ha, but i'll have the last laugh when you're lying in a ditch with three-quarters of a tree stump penetrating your thigh, blood spurting everywhere, and i've merely got 9 of a truck's 18 wheels rumbling over my head
oh, wait a minute...
(had an offroad bike for a while, but it's just so much EFFORT riding them when you ARE on tarmac... feels like 90% of your effort is going into making the tyres make a rumbling noise)

| Re: 24' v 26' ooft...i never even realised :s road bikes a lot easier to ride on the road? i quite often cruise up to largs (bout 9 miles) on road on my full on downhill bike (coyote dh2, mx6 forks) just for a laugh. ive never really noticed the effort.
just make sure you pump your tyres right up. |

| Re: 24' v 26' But the puck-puck noise of tacky tyres on tarmac at speed is sooo cool!

| Re: 24' v 26' With hard tyres, yeah. But soft tyres wear out in a blink on tarmac so you can't puck for long

| Re: 24' v 26' 26s all the way! Far greater stability and a whole hell of a lot easier to get tyres, tubes and good wheelsets.
And besides, to quote a Ride advert I saw in the back of Dirt once... "If you want to ride street or skateparks, buy a BMX. They're stronger, cheaper, and you won't look like a dick" |
