| iron on patches / transfers So, I'm utterly skint, and in a desperate attempt to revamp some of my clothes I don't wear in time for summer I had the idea of drawing up some pictures, sticking them on the pc then somehow magically using the iron on transfer paper you get for printers to transform said clothing.
Anyone done this before? Does it work quite well or does it just turn out pretty crappy? I'd prefer if there was some magic way of doing this so that i can still machine wash the clothing.
Are there any shops that would do this type of thing cheaply? Can it be done at home?
Anyone?
*asks in hope* |

| Re: iron on patches / transfers The Iron-on paper's a bit crap.
The t-shirt nation or t-shirt fatory or whatever it's called down at King's Court will transfer images to most items of clothes, they're the cheapest I've found in Glasgow.
Much better than doing it yourself in the long run - it'll survive the wash much better. |

| Re: iron on patches / transfers I tried many a iron on yourself and all were pretty crap. ALl different companies who make the paper, all seemed crap which ever one I used.
The edges of the transfer went kinda yellowy when ironing onto a white top.
If doin onto a colour it always just looked black as you only get the colour u want if printing onto a white background. Kinda like painting, if u paint on white paper np, but green on blue just turns out brown mush :<

| Re: iron on patches / transfers This is a t shirts I did for a college thing using (allegedly professional) iron paper for dark fabrics. It looks fairly bright, but since it was put on a stretchy fabric, it just puckered as soon as I put it on (you can kinda see it round the edges) and then it kinda, fell off at bits. Would be fine for non-stretchy items of clothing though/on an area that isn't stretched or maybe even fr people unlike me who actually wear t shirts that fit them |

| Re: iron on patches / transfers i used transfer paper from PC World a while back for outfits for eileens hen night. they have all washed fine, though the more well worn items are beginning to fade. the transfers were put on hoodies and tee shirts. the ones on the hoodies were big pictures. i think as long as you take your time ironing them on they should be ok....

| Re: iron on patches / transfers There used to be this paint stuff that you could smear over stuff you'd printed out on paper and then it would transfer onto the t shirt.
It was a few quid out of The Art Store - mine always turned out a bit rubbish but my friend was really good at it.

Is that the Image Maker stuff? I've never tried it either, but I saw them use it on Changing Rooms and it looked quite good, if not expensive - he used like a whole tube on one cushion cover. |

| Re: iron on patches / transfers Nah, still open, or at least it was at the weekend there.
Not Tribe, that's long gone, the bigger shop beside the guitar shop and mono. |
