| Final Fantasy IV NDS Anyone played this?
I only have dim memories of IV on the SNES, playing it in (sort of) 3D on the DS is a real joy. Properly difficult and frustrating like a main series FF game should be.

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS Since getting back from Glasgow I've been in rural Montana.
I have two things on my list when I get back to Vegas
1) Watch Batman
2) Buy this game.
FF4 is the one that really got me hooked on the Final Fantasy series, the port to GBA was delightful, and I can't wait to play the DS version. |

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS When's the UK release for this? I'm definitely looking forward to it, I'm quite new to the FF series but I loved FFIII for the DS (that being the first "real" one I'd played).

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS There's always minor differences between the European versions and the US versions, so for some reason I just feel more comfortable waiting. I've got the rest of Tactics Advance 2 - which is fantastic by the way - and then Civilisation Revolution to go through until then anyway, so it's no big deal

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS Finally got back to civilization (Not CivRev, prob do that on 360 since I liked the demo) and bought a copy of this.
I'm in a swoon - so many childhood memories resurfacing. |

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS Heh, FF4 was such a huge part of me growing up - it's been years since I've played this and I can pick apart dialogue inconsistencies.
Seriously, if your heart doesn't break during the first scene where you meet Rydia after you kill her mum you're not human. |

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS Yeah, import from the states. Who wants to wait until September.
I didn't really care for Tactics A2 at all, or any other of the spin offs, personally. The appeal of the main series is curious, because it is basically just grinding up levels to defeat a boss, but the addictiveness is in the simplicity. Combined with the whole look, feel and sound of the main series really elevates it. Nobu Uematsu's score in this game, and all the others, is just fantastic. They wouldnt be the same games without it.
I was lying about IV being difficult by the way. Similar to III on the DS, theres a steep-ish 'learning curve' at the start where you dont really know the weaknesses of the monsters and your companion characters have to be kept alive with tents and potions so they can get enough exp to be of any use. After that the game is, sadly, piss easy - unlike the the originals on the SNES which i'm sure were much harder (mario, zelda etc were also dumbed down for the DS). The game is still a classic though.

| Re: Final Fantasy IV NDS The augment system and auto-battle win this game for me. AutoPotion for weaker characters huzzah, the Augment and NewGame+ systems look pretty neat (though limited to 3 playthroughs with NewGame+ means using a walkthrough to max out your Augments) |

| Augment's are seriously freaking awesome.
Also, Cecil's da is English? The hell? I thought English accents were reserved for evil people.
Of course I completely forgot (naw, I knew) that Cecil drops to 600hp when becoming a Paladin
On a completely "awesome" note - this game is so flashback-city to a certain age of people. Was sitting at Quark's Bar the other night when couple of tourists leaned over and inquired about what game I was playing. Queue 10min convo - including some mutual hatred all around of Yang and Cid's pointless fucking sacrifices |
