| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d I finished it and was fairly pleased. It's a little bit too 'technical' in a way - i.e. basically every single boss (or set of creatures in a level) is weak to one specific thing and almost impossible to beat unless you figure out what that is and focus on that. What I mean is that there's not as much scope for role play as you might think, it's really more of a power levelling thing.

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d FFIV is getting the 3d treatment next.
Given that that's the first four* FF games being remade in 3d, I wouldn't be surprised if remakes of V and VI and on the cards.
* I and II for PSP due for Japanese release quite soon

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d I thought I and II for PSP were straight remakes with additional content, similar to Dawn of Souls - not a 3D upgrade? |

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d Got this the other day - pretty damn good though much harder than most RPGs I've played. As with any like this the answer to any hard situation is "level up some more" but it requires a lot more of that than most like it.
It's actually the first real FF game I've ever played - the only other one being the hugely enjoyable Tactics Advance, which is getting a DS sequel later this year

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d Tactics isn't a "real" ff game to the purists - only FF1 - XII could be counted as "real" ff games. Strategy games inspired by Tactics Ogre on SNES would be considered spin-offs.
Doesn't make them any less fun or appreciated though - but in the real series of things most folks would refer you to either FF4 (aka FF2 in US/Euro), FF6 (aka FF3 in US/Euro), FF7, or FFX for a "real" FF game to refer to for good and proper grounding in the FF series. |

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d Aye, I know it's a spin off which is why I said 3 was the first real one. But as you said it doesn't make it bad, and even though other than the 1/12th of the missions that directly relate to the story FFTA was ridiculously easy (they seriously needed to make the enemy clans a lot stronger) it was still a lot of fun.
I do want to try out a few more, although only having a GBA DS and PC makes that difficult. Could get a few of the GBA ones right enough, there's a few on it now.

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d FF1, 2, 4, 5, 6 all got GBA treatments - 7 is a fanboy's wet dream to be remade (and you used to be able to get the slightly buggy PC version in cheap 2nd hand shops), 3 got sent to the DS in a 3D version, 8 will probably see a release on Nintendo or whoever's next-gen handheld system (the Nintendo DS is about comparable in power to the N64, the GBA comparable to the SNES, so we can hope that the next one rivals a PS1/GameCube) - X and XII are PS2 only, XI is an MMO for PC/PS2, and XIII will be hitting the PS2 by mid-2008 in Japan, end of 2008 US, spring 2009 EU alongside like a bajillion variations and spin-offs of XIII (I just can't keep track of those ones)
FF4 is one of my personal faves - was the first one I truly got into, and the first on the SNES |

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d Her name was Princess Garnet til Alexandros XVII - she assumed the name Dagger during her short stint as a thief before getting cheesily found out.
I personally loved the hell out of 9, while others lambasted it for being a bit cheese-tasticular. |

| Re: FFIII DS announced - full remake in 3d I found myself in Game buying a DS and this game the other day. Bloody addictive game. A huge plus for me was navigating the menus with the stylus which feels much nicer. Why is practically everyone in the FF games an orphan?
