| Re: The problem is ... I'm 99% sure that Rick Parfitt was standing next to us during Mogwai's set at Connect.
He had a VIP wristband and a minder with him.
A friend of mine asked him if he was Rick Parfitt and he said no. But he totally was. Then some random guy came up and asked him if he was the guy out of Status Quo and he denied it again. Then we talked to the random guy about how it totally was the guy from Status Quo.

I'm just saying people....
For the ones that love Industrial/EBM and all that noise ... get a ghetto and stay there .. or go back where you come from (house music clubs).
For the rest who like all dark genres, pleaseee make a place .. I'm sure a few will come.
It's the UK ... I tought there would be a better following.
When I was living in Italy we had a few clubs around, all having Friday WEEKLY nights and a few bands were "adored"
siouxsie & the banshees, alien sex fiend, bauhaus, joy division, sisters of mercy, london after midnight, etc.etc.etc.
NOTHING newer than 1990 (as it should be). :-D
now .. fair enough I've been going for a few years at the bedlam and probably only twice I have hears a joy division song playing.... when I heard "MARILYN MANSON" hundreds of times.
.................. be ashamed .......................
but after all it's all "new comers" who listen to murderdolls or tools or whatever those shitty bands are called and are either 12 or are 25 and never explored the genres !
I do like a bit of Feindflug, Das Ich, :wumpscut:, NIN, VNV Nation, etc. myself ... but NOBODY can live on that shit ... PLEASE !
yours througly.
now you have a bit more coal on which through FLAMES |

| Re: The problem is ... There used to be a huge 'Goth' following in the UK, in fact the crowds at the recent Bauhaus gig show those fans are still there, the problem is they have all grown up and don't go out clubbing that much apart from a few. I know of one DJ who used to work in one of the biggest 'Goth/Alternative' clubs in Glasgow in the mid to late 80's who tried to get another club night off the ground playing nothing but the old stuff (nothing before 1990) and mixing it with some of the newer bands (sounding like they existed before 1990) but the biggest turn out he got was about 8 people. So I think it's a case of if Bedlam had stuck to the music they played when they first started all those years ago they would have died, they had to expand into other 'dark genres' to survive and grow to the point they are at now. If the situation pisses you off so much start your own night, many of us on this message board have done it, it isn't rocket science. Just be prepared for a bit of hard work. |

And I'd love to know why it appeared in the forum of an (effectively) dead club night??? |

Could tell you to go back to your grave with the rest of the goth scene. And as for the ghetto comment, well, 2 words spring to mind. The 1st is 'fuck', I'm sure you can figure out the other. Quote:

These 'newcomers' as you put it are the lifeblood of the scene these days. Its a shame you dont believe in evolution of music and would prefer to be stuck in your timewarp.
Apologies to everyone else out there who's reads my rant. I'm tired and hungover after celebrating the 5th birthday of Cryotec. Our own little industrial/EBM club which stands by its 'no goth music' policy and is going along quite happily on that basis
See you all at Bedlam on saturday for another night of good music and drink fuelled lunacy |

If you think all the dj's are shite, become a dj.
Its not that hard. You obviously think theres a huge problem here, and know how to fix it. So stop whining and do it. start your own night. |
