Nah, you could move them into the reserves for 'x' weeks but in this one you can still have them in the first team squad but available all the time for reserve games. Good for players who are coming back from injury and guys who wouldn't normally get a first team game.

Can't imagine watching and thinking "oooft what a goal" then it seeing the same clip 50 times a season.
Id watch it once or twice then go back to just text based matches on ULTRA fast speed.
You could make first team members eliglble for reserve games in the last game.
Only for a few weeks/until fit/next 5 days though.

There's thousands of variations depending on the build up etc. but it's a decent change. I'll probably not stick with it 'cos I like just rattling through the season.
