User pages are not articles, their main purpose is, aside from providing a little background information on users, is to let other editors know what sort of articles you edit, so that if they need assistance in a particular area its easier to work out who might be able to assist.
If you think my user page is pretentious btw, you seriously need to see some of the others, mine is bland and honest to god weak on every level - including pretentiousness - compared to them.
