That's a belter. David Murray's gonna bulldoze Ibrox and rebuild it all. Hahahahaha, no bad David. It's better than your casino effort that's for sure. It reeks of the Cambuslang effort, the last throw of the dice by the Kelly dynasty at Celtic.
And there was us led to believe that 5 star Ibrox was the best stadium in Scotland, seems even Mr Murray doesn't think so.
So go on, who's buying into it? |

| Re: Moonbeams, New Stadium From the Rangers website Quote:
FOLLOWING media enquiries today, the club would like to inform its fans that it is currently assessing a number of proposals for the development and regeneration around Ibrox.
At present we are analysing three strategies which would enhance the development of the existing outline planning proposals for the Hinshelwood area to the south of the stadium.
One of the strategies includes the total rebuilding of Ibrox Stadium while retaining the brick facade, the tradition and the integrity of the Bill Struth Main Stand. The Club stresses that at this time it is assessing these proposals and no decisions will be reached imminently.
Further details will be announced at the appropriate time.

| Re: Moonbeams, New Stadium It would seem pretty bad to build a brand new £700 million stadium in an area where half the houses are boarded up. |

| Re: Moonbeams, New Stadium I wonder how the bank would feel about Ibrox being redeveloped with the massive mortgage that they have on the place. With tens of millions of debt in Murrays' holding company and a not insignificant amount at the club itself I'd be interested to see exactly how such a project would be financed.

Much like Arsenal's new ground is called the Emirates or York City's ground Kit Kat Crescent. |

I remember a couple of years ago they had a guy on the radio from the SPL's accountants and he said while it would be fine for Aberdeen or Dunfermline any organisation acquiring naming rights for Parkhead would be shooting themselves in the foot by alienating 'the other side'. Naming rights can only generate so much in a league with limited TV exposure into the bargain.

Same thing happened in San Francisco. The stadium was renamed to 3Com Park, but everyone still called it Candlestick, with the result that no corporate mobs were actually willing to fork out a decent amount for it. |

| Re: Moonbeams, New Stadium The idea of regenerating the area by a stadium is ludicrous. I've never been to a stadium within a town or city that isn't in the mankiest part of town. Any estate agent will tell you nearby stadiums drive prices down. Chucking a casino nearby wont help matters either
