Reports emanating from Spain yesterday claimed a deal worth in excess of £50m had already been struck for Ramos. While that suggestion was very premature and the figure quoted vastly inflated - no direct contact has been made between the clubs or with the player's agent, and the Londoners would not stretch to that price for a defender - it is a sign of Chelsea's ambition that they are considering moving for the Real full-back.

The 22-year-old features on a shortlist that is understood to include Sevilla's Daniel Alves, the attack-minded Brazilian defender who is a longstanding target at Stamford Bridge and came close to signing for them back in August, and the Bayern Munich defender Philipp Lahm as potential recruits to fill what has proved a problematic berth at right-back.

They won't get Ramos, but Lahm and Alves would def be achievable.

Alves may not be what their looking for - they will have two extremely attacking fullbacks in that case (Cole & Alves). May unbalance the team shape.

^ I can see Chelsea ending up with Micah Richards for about £20m. In other news Giovanni Dos Santos is apparently off to Manchester City for £20m - as for why, God only knows.

Morton are insterested in Hamilton's David Graham. Fantastic signing if we got him.

It's good to see so much activity coming from Morton regarding signings, we're usually pretty quiet until the last few days.

He's only scored two goals this season, is he worth bringing in with that sort of goal-scoring record?

He's always done well against us.

Brian Wake had only scored 3 goals when we signed him and he saved us from relegation.

Aye, but he had a track record of scoring goals and it was well documented that he just didn't fit into Chelsea's system. The only time this guy's got more than ten in one season was in 2004!

We were having a discussion, because Stew is one of the few on here who realise there's football outside of the Old Firm.

The simple answer: I love football and can't get enough of it.

Meant to say, noticed on the Morton messageboard at greenockmorton.org/forum when a thread popped up about Greacen going that the fans on there wouldn't be too sad to see him go. I quote:

He's a decent player but has his fair shair of howlers and can be inconsistent. His performances are either amazing or shockingly bad and can usually be blamed for any goals we concede.

Plus he's ginger.

Also, Morton fans are some of the most critical I've ever met. We're never happy.
