Fulham midfielder Steven Davis is closing in on a permanent move to Rangers, according to his agent.

The 23-year-old Northern Ireland international earned plaudits after moving to Ibrox on loan in January.

Davis's agent Rob Segal told BBC Sport: "I think the clubs will be speaking this week and there's a willingness to do the move."

Segal said Fulham understood Davis - also interesting English Premier League clubs - wants first-team football.

Davis featured prominently as Rangers progressed to the Uefa Cup final and were pipped to the Scottish Premier League title on the last day by Celtic.

Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is looking to bolster his squad after avoiding relegation from England's top tier last season - and it is unclear whether Davis features in his plans.

Segal said Davis enjoyed his spell at Ibrox and would be keen to make his move permanent if the club can agree a fee.

"Fulham are prepared to listen to offers because they understand Steven's need to play regular football at his age," his agent added.

Speaking last month, Davis said he was excited at the prospect of staying with Rangers.

"I think the club is on the up again, they are progressing well and if I'm part of it next season then that will be great," he said.

"I grew up as a fan back home in Northern Ireland and it's been an ambition of mine to play for Rangers and I have achieved that."

The guy finished on 20 league goals this past season, scored in europe consistantly, did the dogs work for wee McDonald all season, and ultimately scored the 2 goals that won us the league.

Get a grip.

Frei's a good player, who'd do well for us.
He's got a good track record and bags of experience.
Stew also talks like 28 is old, that's a tad strange.

My only concern is that in 2006 dortmund wanted 12MIllion for him.

JVoH does a great job for Celtic and is a very good football player and that's why he got his game every week even when he was struggling a bit and it's why he's in the Holland squad.

A better player than JVoH would be a great buy for Celtic but most players that fit that description are too expensive and wouldn't come to Scotland.

He's a different type of player to JVoH, I'd have them both.
Although can you really drop McDonald after all his goals this season?

Frei's injury record being what it is means he's a risk and I'd be surprised if Celtic spent decent money on a player that may only be fit for 20-30 games a season.
