Rangers are full of ex-players and it works for them. I think it could be a masterstroke, get big Hartson back as well.

Although I see it as a good move, it's too little too late for me & a last act of desparation to try and get the fans that are growing weary of Strachan back on-side with the club and the PLC.

It's not an act of desperation.

I wouldn't have got shot of Hartson.

You're bang on the money there chief. McCoist, Durrant etc on the coaching staff all know what it's like to play for the club and what it takes to win, and get the backing of the fans. Bringing some of that in is always a good idea - hell, let's get Hartson, Sutton or some other inspirational ex-players on the coaching staff.

Aye it is.
To deflect attention off of Chesney.

The PLC brought him in, not Strachan.

Re: Celtic V Rangers: 16/04/2008

Aye, cause Strachan isn't one for bringing in ex or old players because of their coaching ability (DD and Evlis). The wee man annoys me too, but that's just Anti-Strachan drivel.

It's clear, to me anyway, that Tommy Burns will be moving on shortly (from the club) and that means we need a new memeber of the coaching staff.

I wouldn't look too much into it or think it's going to change that much.

It could be a good move, but do you think he's going to work wonders in a week? Probably too little too late.

I don't think he's been brought in to rescue the season, frankly.

It's my own conclusion.

How I've reached it (if yer interested) is, Strachan didn't care for Lennon, & vice a versa. There views on the game often clashed, as demonstrated in last years cup final.

Strachan already has plenty coaching staff there.
He is always does the opposite of anything anyone trys to tell him, especially regarding his job, because it's his nature.

Would would he want another coach in? (Especially Lennon) if he thinks the players he has are playing excellent (Caldwell) and think's he is doing a grand job himself?

We already have Tommy Burns (you don't get much more Celtic Minded than that, surely?)

All I have heard out of ANY Celtic fan RE: the way we play is "We don't have a leader" "Get Strachan Out: We need a Celtic man in"....phone ins/papers/the lot.

Neil Lennon: A Celtic man & a proven leader. 2 birds, 1 stone.
It also allows Strachan to stay to keep making profit for the side and for the fans to have their "celtic minded leader" on board.

Strachan hasn't listened to us before...he has never gave into peer pressure.
So why would he now?

My answer is: He hasn't.
Lawwell, Reid & Co. have seen the rising tensions in the stands (dwindling crowds, growing unrest) and decided to curb it.

It's a good idea, but I've a funny feeling it was put to him, rather than him "asking" for Lennon to join.

It's no' rocket science.

How is it?

I've stuck up for the guy numerous.
I like to think it's more of an informed opinion, myself.....rather than being spoon fed that the guys the messiah.

Re: Celtic V Rangers: 16/04/2008

Strachan offered Lennon a coaching role before he left last season. Lennon felt he could still play on so declined, this has obviously changed. I don't believe for a minute that Peter Lawell and Dr Reid have brought Lennon in over Strachan's head.

I think Strachan agreed to it, aye, but I don't for a second think he prompted it.
I think it would've been the War Criminal and the rest of the board.
