| Celtic fans cleared of sectarian shame. Since this managed to appear as it's own thread, it's only fair that there is another thread which clearly states that the case against the Celtic fans in Barcelona has not got enough evidence and has been dropped. Quote: |

A Celtic spokesman said: "We never felt that there was any case to answer and we welcome confirmation of this." The club was not contacted by Uefa and the spokesman added: "Celtic and its supporters enjoy a unique relationship with FC Barcelona. "Our recent visit to the city was very well received once again by the club, the people of the city and the Catalan police. "Indeed, the conduct of our fans was also applauded by Uefa." | http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...ic/7318430.stm
No doubt the papers will have a tiny little corner of their sports section dedicated to this tomorrow. |

| Re: Celtic fans cleared of sectarian shame. I'm surprised T-Bone didn't post this himself, as the matter was clearly so close to his heart. He'll be glad to see justice done though, since I'm sure that was his only motivation for posting the previous thread. |

I believe that, sir, is what the internet calls a FAIL. |

| Re: Celtic fans cleared of sectarian shame. Yeah I'm sure the whole thing was a conspiracy against Celtic Football Club PLC from the outset. They were all just singing 'come on Celtic', there was no reference to foreign countries, terrorist organisations, religious groups or anything else outwith the sphere of football. This is why UEFA didn't dismiss allegations from the off and carried out an investigation.
'Lack of evidence' is the oldest cop out in the book.
End of the day neither you nor I know what was sung at Barcelona or exactly what was investigated by UEFA. But the fact so many Celtic fans on here have taken up the crusade (oops thats a religious reference) to try and prove your business is whiter than white is both intriguing and laughable. |
