Well in that case, you are fairly right, but again, it's the way the cookie crumbles for us.
It was more the principle of the thing - i.e. We wanted games (important ones that were in and around the date of our uefa cup matches) moved/postponed to allow us more chance to recover in the hope of bringing home some euro silverware to Scotland, in some pre-conceived hope of improving the Scottish game (which I think is utterly stupid anyway) and we told no. Fair enough, says I, as it's not really fair on every other team in the league, gunning for a good finish to their season. We chanced our arm, and were knocked back.
Rangers have done the exact same thing (albeit with a slightly more hectic schedule) and have been told yes, thus leading to fixture re-arranging (yet again) and thus a season extention.
It's a disgrace, it diminishes (even FURTHER) the integrity of the league, and can only be seen, no matter which way you paint it, as blatant Rangers bias.
It's fact, that exactly what it is.
The SPL need to sort themselves out really.
(again, I must stress this isn't Rangers fault, they only asked the question, as did we)

| Re: Season to be extended.. It is quite a tough one, I can see why Celtic fans would be raging about it, as well as the other SPL teams who haven't been at fault for any postponed games. Although expecting us to play that many games in such a short period is fucking ridiculous, I know "thats how the cookie crumbles" is the truth, but it's not exactly our fault.
The only logical excuse the SFA could give is that because the hectic schedule isn't Rangers fault (Unless staying in Tournements puts you at fault) but even at that it still is a dodgy matter.
I'm not complaining about it at all of course, it's great for us, however complaining about the suits is on the cards because this could easily cause problems in the future if any other team asks to have it extended.

| I've said many times it's not Rangers fault.
They just asked the question.
Of course playing 4 games in 8 days is ridiculous, and through a combination of postponments & Rangers doing very well in all competitions this year, it has led to this schedule.
For that, Rangers are partly to "blame" if you like...although it should be a welcome burden.
The SPL fixture chaos has been a joke, and for that the SPL must shoulder most of the blame for, as all teams have acted with in the rules and regulations that they have stipulated...but in my book, to protect any small shred of integrity this league still has, they have to stick to their original rules, and of course the original season end date.
The season, should not, ever ever ever ever, be extended.

| Re: Season to be extended.. Look at all this shite.
Unforseen circumstances caused a lot of games to be called off over the winter. If those games hadn't have been called off this wouldn't happen. There's not much more to it, so cut the biased paranoia shit.

Then this problems wouldn't exist.
To be expected though, but fuck it.

SPL chairman Lex Gold described as "garbage" suggestions of bias and that the decision would have been different had Rangers been in Celtic's position.

| Re: Season to be extended.. Season's should be extended to allow any team that has a chance to go anywhere in europe. This obviously plays into Rangers hands if they do reach the final however lets be serious guys this is not going to be the case they have had there luck and you just need to look at the last two games they played to see where the season is heading for them.
SPL latly is just showing how much of a tits arse they are making of the league. Goals being disallowed,Ground sharing, fixures being moved for one club and not the other etc etc.
Real Radio should be interesting tonight!

CELTIC Football Club believes that today’s announcement by the SPL of a possible extension to this season’s league campaign has compromised the integrity of the competition.
Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “We do not want to disadvantage Rangers should they reach the UEFA Cup final, but we are extremely disappointed and concerned at the manner of the decision-making process – which was done without consultation with the clubs or the SPL board – and the effects on the integrity of the competition.
“In addition, this decision, which will cause a great deal of inconvenience to our supporters and to five other clubs, will also mean that Celtic would have a gap of 11 days before playing our final league fixture. A number of our key first-team players are also due to go on international duty immediately after our scheduled final league game against Dundee United on Sunday, May 18.
“In principle we accept fixture flexibility. However, the league must not be compromised by changing the rules during the course of the competition and these decisions should not be made on an ad hoc basis.
“Therefore, we oppose the decision and feel, in fact, that it has compromised the integrity of the competition.”
