Its end of the season. We're going into May and we're still competing in 3 cups with one already in the bag. Aye mate we must be shite...

| Re: Away goal rule. Smith has pretty much said as much ealrier in the season, Europe is beyond us, ect.
Its certainly not the squad smith would want, it looks like a team build to tide him over till the summer.

| Re: Away goal rule. Well... without getting into n arguement about rangers... how many other teams have you followed, or known about every movement through the UEFA cup?
SO obviously rangers using the away goal is gonna stick out in your mind... but we've only got through on the away goal rule once, against panathaniakos. So we aren't dependant on it.
I think (i could most likely be wrong), but middlesboro where more dependant on the rule?

This isn't the best rangers team of the last 10 or 15 years, but I think its the most tactically sound. Defence is as much a part of football as free flowing passing football. Its all very well doing that but winning fuck all I.e Arsenal.
Smith has looked at what he has and played the best style to suit what he has, and he's allready on for one trophy and maybee 3 more. I'd say its good management, not a brilliant squad though. Not a shite squad, but far from brilliant.
Oddly he might have rangers best season in living memory with one of the weakest line ups. Well done to him.

| Re: Away goal rule. All I said was that Rangers are doing well considering their squad and once they get more quality, you'd expect that this wont be the way they are playing.
Obviously criticising Rangers in any, way, shape or form is too much for Westy.

Here what drugs you on? I'll be having whatever your taking. | shouldn't that be 2 cups and the league with 1 already in the bag since the SPL isn't a cup competition?

| Re: Away goal rule. Westy, why don't you try putting forward a proper defence of the mention players, instead of acting more and more shocked by disbelief untill someone else does it for you.
Tell me you were excited by the signing of Christian Dailly, tell me you dont see him (or any other of the players I've mentioned) getting replaced next season (if funds permit it).

I'm not entire critical of Rangers this season btw, I know exactly what Smith's doing.
It's just that I've never seen a manager before that feel no compulsion, to actually play any football at home. The "win at all costs, other than playing football" attitude is a bit of a strange one, but given Rangers have what is basically, a poor team. And they're on the back of 2 terrible seasons and a decade of Celtic dominance, you can't really blame them.
I'm sure if they play this way next season, there will be more complaining for the Fans though. | This is a bizarre post. To think off the top of my head there's been a few teams that haven't had the most flair but still got success and the fans didn't moan. For a start (bear in mind i'm talking about a higher scale of talent here) you had Chelsea win 2 leagues in a row off the back of strong performances, not based on flair but grinding out results, many of them 1-0 home wins. Last season as well you had a Real Madrid team that didn't play the most attractive football but again got results and won the league over Barca (aye Capello was sacked but that was a board decision). Even if you think to the last WC, Italy didn't play the nicest football. I've seen France and Italy both in the flesh and i'd say France were a far better footballing team but Italy grind out results so the "win at all costs, other than playing football" is seen everywhere. In fact, MON's Celtic teams were at times painful to watch but they won first and played football 2nd.
You play to your strengths and we do that - we're fairly solid at the back, have a good work ethic and dangerous on the counter. There's no point trying to play attacking 4-4-2 and getting hammered because as we all know in Europe you'll get pumped doing that, as Walter did the 1st time he was in charge. The away goals rule is a tactic that you play to in Europe and i'm sure Rangers aren't the first team to play a home game with the intention first and foremost of not conceding a goal.
And a decade of Celtic dominance? We've won 4 leagues and going for a 5th so that was a weird swipe as well. |

Honestly, you even mention the word "Rangers" on this forum now and you're met with "FUCK OFF 4 CUPS, TOP OF THE LEAGUE BLAH BLAH BLAH".
