Two biggest games of the season, against Barcelona and against Chelsea there and in both games he failed to make an impact. In the Barcelona game he missed the penalty and squandered free kicks and failed to really do much, in the Chelsea game there he didn't do much when he came on and again squandered free kicks that could have otherwise been lifted to the back post for the likes of Ferdinand etc to get on to rather than shooting from 30-odd yards.
I'm not going to say he's a big game bottler, 'cos he'll no doubt turn it on against Barca mid-week to make me look like an idiot (

), but the reason why I rate Messi a lot higher than him is that Messi always stands up to be counted and performs to a really high level in big games, whereas Ronaldo hasn't really turned it on in a big game for United yet.
Which, sort of on-topic, brings us to Avram Grant arguably winning his
first big game, which might get the section of fans off his back that have been jeering him and his tactics. If he can win the EPL after the season Chelsea have had, and bring in his own players he might well turn out to be a decent manager.
