Not all the buses, nowhere near it. The majority of them were told to park at the land at the back of Old Trafford tram station, next to the cricket ground. Rant time - On the screens after the game it said "trams and buses to Old Trafford Station, follow the orange signs" Trams and buses were both off, and there were no fucking signs so you didn't know where to walk. Good one, Manchester.

Anyway, Piccadilly Gardens was definitely the more raucous of the 2 zones. There were a lot of English folk hanging around, but we were in England. I'm just totally sick to my stomach.

It's sounds quite bad to say this, and I know I'm likely to take some stick, but I'm glad I support Celtic.

I like knowing that if I go to an away game, such as the UEFA cup final, or even a qualifier, I'll be in a great crowd, that is literally self policing, picks up after itself (unlike the 20tonne+ that Manchester Council waste disposal had to deal with), will likely win the approval of wherever it is that gets visited and it just a great place to be.

It staggers my mind that all fans cant have the same outlook - make a party atmosphere without being an utter dick (not tarring all the fans with the same brush btw)

Off topic, but ironically I was watching one of the Lord of the Rings films the other night... can't remember what one, had a few rums down my neck by then, but saw the orcs in a huddle, fighting with one another before they got to the fray, then switched on the news to see, pretty much, an echo. Not I get the whole orc, Mordor thing.

It's a sorry state of affairs that some people still act like that, and even though I love to see the Gers and their support get pelters, I cant help but feel for the many genuine and that are gonna get labelled as arseholes for this.

The world was watching. The view wasn't good.

Y'know, I'm utterly willing to believe that it's shite - after a few beers some folk will make up some cracking stories.

Hence why I'd love to hear from some folks that were there if it's remotely true or plausable.

In response to Markmono's deleted post.... it's a bit like "unpossible", but different.

(For the record, yes, I did mean to type "invalid". You can blame a cocktail of Miller, and a variety of rums such as OVD, Captain Morgan etc etc for fucking it up) Seriously though, if there's any evidence of Scottish cops being in Manchester, I'd love to know before I speak to this bloke on Monday... not that important, but still.

Nae offence but if you cannae find a tram stop from Piccadilly Gardens or Albert Square...

Really Manchester trams have enough bother running on a normal day to day basis why they thought they'd work when the centre was that much busier morrisey only knows.

Its probably fairly plausable to have a few officers down that know the fans, the local dialect and can tell the other officers when its likely to kick off? Weegies a fairly aggressive accent as it is (particularly compared to monotonal Manc) for that reason alone I can understand why it might be an idea to have a few Strathclyde officers dotted about to go "nah mate he'll be no bother".

I was on about the first part of your rant that was about following the lack of orange signs... If you read on you'll notice I mention the shitness of Manchesters tram system in the same post (which is abysmall particularly one Eccles line) which was essentially me going "I'm not suprised they were off".

Aye, I reckon that there's more than a few Scots that work for the Manchester Constabulary, Greater Manchester Police, or whatever it's called, same as London, where there seems to be a good amount of Scots working for the Met. This is why I'm curious - it seems unlikely that Strathclyde would send a contingent down - I can imagine a few advisors or whatever, but to send a riot squad.... no so sure. He's adamant though. (I dunno anyone else that went down, hence why asking here)
