| Writers Player Of The Year 2008 - Carlos Cuellar Quote:
Rangers defender Carlos Cuellar has been named the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year.
The 26-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed a wonderful first season at Ibrox and had already claimed the Clydesdale Bank Premier League top player prize.
Celtic winger Aiden McGeady won the PFA Scotland award last month.
"It is not only recognition for myself but for all the hard work of the whole team," said Cuellar. "It is an honour for me to receive it."
Cuellar joined Rangers last summer from Osasuna in a £2.4 million deal and has made over 50 appearances and scored five goals this season.
He first came to the attention of manager Walter Smith when Rangers met the Pamplona side in last season's Uefa Cup.
And with Rangers through to the Uefa and Scottish Cup finals and still chasing the SPL title, Cuellar is aiming to add to the League Cup medal he won in March
| Take a bow, big man. You've been outstanding mate. Best player in Scotland by a mile.
