| Is it just me or.. Is there not as much "whoo-haa" around the Rangers UEFA cup run as their was to Celtic's?
I remember BBC Specials, announcements from Tony Blair, BBC Radio Interviews with Big Meurt.
Maybe the press are more interested in hearing what Smith, Murray and Bain have to say about their displeasure at not getting things their own way, but still..It's not even on the national news and the damn thing's being played in Manchester.

I don't think Rangers are getting the credit they deserve for getting this far. Theres like 1 page in the papers a day about it, when it was Seville, it was the first 5-6 pages on the run up.
I'm not really too fussed though. The people who its important too are what matters. And every single Rangers fan understands this is going to be pretty special. They should anyway.

| Re: Is it just me or.. Maybe aye. But even if we did that, the teams we could have faced were Everton and Bolton, I think, it wouldn't really do much. A little at most.
Not really one of the big four as with Liverpool on Celtics run to Seville.

That and Rangers might be getting less attention for being the second Scottish club in recent memory to make it.

I'm no being funny when I say that.
(I'm well aware that any criticism of Rangers I make bring out the Westy/Rosco PERMARAGE!!!)

(I'm well aware that any criticism of Rangers I make bring out the Westy/Rosco PERMARAGE!!!) | I don't think it comes down to a better reputation outwith Scotland it perhaps more comes down to there being more Celtic fans then Rangers fans dotted about South of the Border.
Or perhaps that Celtics Irish associations make media associations think that their progress will automatically be of interest to folks of Irish extraction dotted about Britain. Rangers not so much.

Maybe that's it, maybe it's no very trendy to be so overtly brittish and insular "nobody likes us and we don't care".

The only other club that I can think of that I associate with such Union Jack waving is Millwall.
But I really do think its because Celtics progress will be viewed as of more interest to a wider audience then Rangers. Primarily because the rest of the UK probably considers Rangers an exclusively Scottish club.

Better this way though, I despise it when the hype-machine kicks in and everyone throws sanity out the window. I always feel more confident when it's just sort of happening, but when it goes the way of hype I start to get antsy and nervous. Like there's too much pressure or something.

| Re: Is it just me or.. There may be less of a hoo-hah because Celtic got to the final a few years ago and therefore maybe everyone doesn't regard it as special an achievement as a result. Maybe also because it's in Manchester which isn't really as glamarous as Seville. Either way, i still think it's in the press a hell of a lot, we're getting all the 24 page spreads tomorrow |
