Seems I was wrong, if the radios anything to go by. Le sigh. | We were going back to the hotel after the game & saw a group of Rangers fans lob a block of kerb at a policeman & policewoman. Fucking shocking. |

| Re: Why is it? I'd love to know where all the "violence" is coming from.
I've been to thousands of football matches and never seen a fight. Just because some arseholes get caught on TV do ing it doesn't mean it's a giant problem that happens every week.
More antisocial behaviour is caused by drink and drugs in your average town centre, I don't see what football has got to do with violence in particular. |

No - but she is one of the very few the media show. It is not your fault as it is instilled in the media that there is a problem. If you are a fan and go to games or watch in pubs and so on the reality is very different from what the media wants you to believe.

| Re: Why is it? There is alot violence at the football in the UK, choose to accept that or not.
It's definatly not as rife as it used to be.
It's just more underground & away from the stadia/matches itself in the UK especially, because matches are so heavyily policed and the whole average 'football experiance' is sanitized.
You only have to take a look at other countries in the world like brazil, italy, argentina to know that violence is rife in football. Has been for many a year, and I think, always will be.
AS Chris says, you can go to matches week in and week out for years and never see a damn thing, but it doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
For the average football fan in the UK, 99.9% of the time it's a trouble free, happy go lucky trip.
You get your bus with the other fans, you pay your ticket money, you go to the game, you buy yer half time pie, then saunter home.
You've definatly got more chance of falling victim to a fight or violence walking around the city centre at the weekend than at a football game if you aren't looking for trouble.
It is there though.
You really cannot beat football in the passion stakes.
I've never known anything like it, and it's the very reason I love it so much.
It means something.

| Re: Why is it? I have to say, I agree with Chris here.
I can only speak as a Celtic fan, but the feeling that it's more than something you go to watch every week is not an uncommon one. |

Al | In all seriousness this is a very real feeling amongst numerous football fans and, I would bet, a feeling many football fans on this site share.

Same such respect should be shown to footie dafties.
