Novo under guard
RANGERS star Nacho Novo was last night under guard at his home after bigots posted his address on the web.
Police were called in by the club after someone revealed the name of his street on a website. A distraught Novo said yesterday: "This is my home, my family stay here and no one will mess with my family."
The web posting came after suggestions in internet chatrooms that Rangers players should be regarded as targets for attack.
The views came amid a backlash to the assault on Celtic coach Neil Lennon, which sparked a large debate on whether Old Firm stars should feel free to socialise in Glasgow after Old Firm games. After Rangers striker Novo's street name was published, furious Rangers security supremo Ken Scott phoned Chief Superintendent Robin Howe, of Strathclyde Police, demanding an investigation.
He also ordered security guards to patrol outside Novo's Glasgow home.
An Ibrox insider said: "Posting someone's address takes the matter into a new dimension."
A police spokeswoman said last night: "We have received a complaint in relation to posts made on the internet. Our inquiries are continuing."

Quoted that, last that I knew of, he lived on Main Street, Inverkip?
C'mpn guys, I'm all for freedom of speech, but publicly posting that Nacho Novo lives on Main Street, Inverkip, is out of order.
(Presumably he's on the electoral register anyway? And there's billions of references to where he lives online. Plus it wouldn't be too hard to follow him home anyway. I mean c'mon, we know where GWB lives, and no-one has managed to get to him yet)
Aye, bit shite, eh?
I'm neither a "glass is half empty" nor a "glass is half full" kinda guy...either way the glass needs topped up!
Micks wrong. Thats not were he stays.

OH OH OHHHH OHHHTom Morello - ''Joe Strummer played as if the world could be changed by a three-minute song, he changed my world''
Bit of a hoo-haa over fuck all, again.
It's hardly a top secret location.
Some of the comments along side it were sickening. Something about corpses. The forum was the Huddleboard.

Just look for the house that has police patrolling outside!
It's pretty deplorable to post it though, I'm not going to sit here and condemn what happened to Neil Lennon and then advocate someone posting Novo's address on the web.
Celtic fans have let themselves down over this one.

Nah I just think it's funny that the same people laughing at Lennon being punched are up in arms over someone saying it'd be funny if Novo died...on the internet.
The very same internet dregs devoid of morality, and happy to mock child molestation & the death of a legend.
My opinion of it, is that it's particularly poor chat, but hardly merits a full scale protection operation because someone said "here's his address".
The fact is, it's easily accessable if you want to find it, and because it's been posted on a Celtic bored with some off the cuff comments is, while shit, hardly merits a big rescue operation.
Thee End.
We don't have to sink to their level though, if we're unhappy about the continued racism being spouted out from the Rangers faithful we don't have to fight that with posting a players address and saying that we'll attack Rangers fans of any age and gender in the streets.
Be the better person and all that.
