| Today's Football (Round 2) For goodness sake Ipswich, get your game out of first gear and start playing. A win against Barnsley tonight is not an option but a must. If we lose tonight I think Magilton may find himself out of a job. Rumours are that Sam Alladyce or Ruud Gullitt may be in the frame to take over if Marcus Evans decides Magilton has had his opportunity.

| Re: Today's Football (Round 2) A win. OK, it was only Barnsley, but it was a win. Jim may not have to worry about finding a new job quite yet. Puts us above Norwich too - always good.

| Re: Today's Football (Round 2) Theres a silly runour going about that Craig Brewster is stepping down cause he shagged a midfielder in his team. Or a midfielders wife. Or that he was caught in the toilets with some boy. Fuck knows.

Originally Posted by BBC Sports Lee McCulloch could find himself playing centre-half after featuring at the back for Rangers' reserves in a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock.
The former Scotland midfielder told the club website he would have no trouble playing at centre-half in the future. The 30-year-old was joined by Christian Dailly in defence after Rangers' reserve coach suggested the switch. "You're never too young to learn and, wherever the gaffer wants me to play, I will play," said McCulloch.
Rangers manager Walter Smith and assistant Ally McCoist watched the whole match, with McCulloch bidding to regain match fitness following a knee injury. McCulloch said of the experience: "I really enjoyed playing in defence, although it is a totally different game when the match is played in front of you all the time. "It's quite strange to be facing the midfield and the strikers, but it was interesting. "If I am asked to play there again, I will be more than happy to do so."
McCulloch recently announced his retirement from international football after being left out of the Scotland squad since George Burley took over as manager. | Moving back to centre back worked pretty well for big Chris Sutton when he was asked to do it. It could be the best option for McCulloch since he's quite slow and doesn't quite have the skill or acceleration to play on the left wing ahead of the likes of Beasley or Novo who've been preferred there in recent weeks.
What do you think? Good idea, or Walter Smith and Ally McCoist trying to get their money's worth out of a guy they spent quite a large sum of money on? He's certainly got the aerial presence to make it work. |

| Re: Today's Football (Round 2) Rubbish idea. I like him but he's not good enough for Rangers. We can't just have players who you can say "Aye the boy is a trier" about them. Fringe player. Scored some crackers though.

| Re: Today's Football (Round 2) If I'm not mistaken I'm sure Hateley played a game or two in defence back in the day. So certainly precedent for Smith to pull something like that. |

The pressure on Portsmouth to make a formal complaint to the FA about the abuse Sol Campbell was subjected to by Tottenham fans at Fratton Park this weekend has increased after the wording of the taunts he suffered was published.
As yet, neither the FA, the police nor Pompey have proved willing to take action about the abuse.
The Hampshire constabulary claim that despite the behaviour of the Tottenham supporters clearly - and loudly - transgressing laws regarding public disorder, they refused to act at the time because so many supporters were taunting Campbell.
They claimed that because it was happening on such a large scale, they feared dangerous reprisals could follow any police action against individuals at that time.
It has now been revealed that the most widespread chant sung by Tottenham fans about Campbell ran as follows:
Sol, Sol, wherever you may be,
Not long now til lunacy,
And we couldn't give a f***,
When you're hanging from a tree,
Judas **** with HIV.
Portsmouth have refused to make a complaint to the FA - merely stating that they would "help" and "support" the defender if he sought action - and without one the governing body are powerless to lay a charge against Tottenham.
