Agree with everything Timmy said up there, Perez is a billionaire and as part of his re-election he promised 250m Euros will be spent on the squad. The 'mountain of debt' is part and parcel of La Liga, they're all in fucking debt but it's manageable.

Also, Perez is the president, not the owner, his own money has absolutely nothing to do with Real Madrid's funds as soon as he's elected President (that resides with the Socios primarily). In fact ,if anyone was going to pump money into them it would have been the Spanish government, but right now due to the recession they wont.

Eh, aye. His status within the club due to the past era dictates how much money they'll release to him, but his personal money doesn't go into the club to the degree that you're all suggesting (it can't). You seem to be confusing the structure of Spanish clubs with English. Perez doesn't own Real Madrid, no one technically does, and now as President he most definitely doesn't fund them. He'll be granted an incredible amount of money due to his reputation, no doubt, but this doesn't come from his own pocket, and it doesn't mean it would be the sensible thing to do financially either (see Real Madrid's recent history at any point you like).

Edit: Here's a better summary of what I mean.

And, crucially, you have to submit a deposit equal to 15 per cent of the club's budget, or about £50 million. (But you don't need to come up with the cash yourself, you just need a bank to vouch for you.) Now that Pérez has been elected, does he have to fund the club? No. In fact, he's not allowed to. He simply runs the club. Lol. In all seriousness, the Spanish media is pretty bewildered as to where this 300 million Euros (that's how much he says he'll spend) is coming from. With Spain in a complete heap due to the recession the government cant afford to fund it (not to mention Zapatero is a Barca fan....). Perez says it's coming from shirt revenue, but they'd need to sell something in the region of 30 million shirts! In actual fact the likely scenario is that banks who have connections to Madrid are floating debts, which they cant afford to.

Perez has come in and is spending £136 million on two players, that's a fact. They didn't have that kind of money to spend on Kaka and Ronaldo before Perez came back in. Where then if he can't fund the club does Dead Forever think the money has come from. You've already said it's not from the Government.

If he's funding it himself it's illegal. Fahct. If the banks are writing off debts then they're going to have to reclaim them sooner rather than later due to Spain's economic situation. Fahct. I'm sure it will all become clearer over the next few days in any case.
