| Re: Charity 7s - boys vs girls Right! I went down to The Pitches at the weekend. The girl at the desk said that if we spoke to or wrote a letter to the owners of the venue they'd probably be willing to do us a deal on the pitch. If we could get it for £50 instead of £70, that's pretty cheap on a per person basis. I suppose even at £70 for a one off it's not bad; £3.60 vs £5 if we each only have a 7 person team. I had a run around on the pitches too; they're in good nick as the place is only a couple of months old, and the underlay makes them feel nice and springy. And it's set up quite well for spectators too.
The only day we couldn't book something is a Monday; other than that most evenings and weekends are pretty empty. We usually play on a Tuesday or a Thursday. When do you lot generally play? Any thoughts on when this should happen?? |

I was going to suggest early December (before all the Xmas nites out started kicking off ) but if too many people are broken/skint we can put if off til ?? I don't think weather will be an issue if everyone is happy to play indoors. |

*In a non-sexual manner of course. | I got a reputation as a hatchet man at a charity 5s tournament the other month. | Re: Charity 7s - boys vs girls Here's the latest:
The girls have strips.
The venue is The Pitches, Pollokshaws.
I've emailed CHAS and asked for any information/sponsor packs they might provide to people wanting to fundraise for them. They are also on justgiving.com, so it will be pretty easy to set up a page there.
Nicky (one of the girlies) is going to get the charity she works for to write a letter on our behalf looking for a reduced-fee 7s pitch.
The girls are happy to wait until after Christmas to do this - more time to organize and get people to donate, as Young Blood said.
How does everyone feel about Saturday, 9 January? Say, 10 or 11 am? Or later in the afternoon/evening? Yay or nay? Other suggestions? |
