| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? The Nintendo Wii is the new Sega Saturn, and Super Mario Galaxy is its Sonic X-Treme.
A console in dire need of a flagship title, a fitting that looks like it will never ever / is taking fucking ages to be released. |

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? Give the Wii 12-18 months - it took developers by surprise. (EA retooled most of next year's lineup to include almost double the number of Wii games they had in the pipe for this year) Right now it's outselling the PlayStation 3 in Japan 6 to 1. Once it starts to hit the mature part of its life cycle, we'll see loads of games for it and not just the big name titles that should have been release titles (Super Paper Mario would have been great at release - or Metroid, or Smash Bros...got the Wii play and Zelda at least) |

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? Super Smash Brothers Brawl, when it comes out, is going to be a major thing I reckon - and although it could disappoint - always that danger with sequels to classics, I seriously can't see that happening.

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? The first sequel in the Super Smash Bros series is universally hailed as being "stufreakingpendousamazinglygoodawesomenesshappyti me". I can't see how they could possibly fail with a third - I mean, it's not like Nintendo is Namco or anything... (Soul Calibur 3 I'm looking at you here...) |

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? Oh it guaranteed is! SSMB Melee is one of my favourite games of all time. It's obviously a terrific novelty concept - classic Nintendo characters beating the living crap out of each other with all their signature moves in signature environments - but to make it as good as it was took something special - something I seriously doubt anyone other than Nintendo would ever be capable of.

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? Listen, I think Super Smash Brothers is a cool series. I enjoy the novelty of having so many legendary Nintendo characters together in one title, everything looks and sounds visually and aurally pleasing, and the fact that Ness from EarthBound is in it is as cool as shit.
But what the hell is it that appeals to people who love it SO much? Legit, I'm not dissing it or anything, I just think I'm missing something. It's a button bashing game that kills some time, as far as I'm concerned. It's fun but I wouldn't ever associate it with being a "big title". I put the hype for a new Smash Brothers on the same level as, like, a new Mario Party game or something. |

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? I'm with you Joe - I was more a Tekken/SC fan than a SSB fan. I love the concept, but I can't stand the lack of classical technical fighting abilities Street Fighter 2 style. SSB on GameCube always seemed to be "oh look, soandso is playing Kirby - we all lose" or "soandso is playing Samus, we all lose" repeatedly, and humiliatingly - where 'soandso' is generally someone like a 6yr old girl, or your 2yr old cousin or something.
I still stand behind the Wii as a great future system - bit of a weak opening, but the PS3 and 360 had similarly ~meh~ opening titles and every developer across the board sat up and paid attention to the Wii's sales numbers. You still can't buy the damned thing without sitting in a waiting line or getting on eBay. |

| Re: What are you looking forward to this Year? It was always Cpt Falcon that the utter wanks picked. I still hear cries of 'PUNCH!' to this day. In the end I fought back by getting insanely good with Pika and driving all my friends to hate the game entirely. |
