The first details of LucasArts' PS3 and Xbox 360 Star Wars project have finally emerged, from the latest issue of US mag Game Informer.

It's called Star Wars: Force Unleashed and takes place between Episode III and Episode IV, when new Sith on the block Darth Vader is out to wipe the galaxy clean of runaway Jedi.

There's versions of this being developed for the DS, PSP and PS2 as well, but the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are going to have highly destroyable worlds of the type seem in the E3 Star Wars demo last year (video is a Lucasarts Tech demo, not game footage). If Force Unleashed manages to look as good as that video, then I will be a very happy nerd.

I present for your consideration KOTOR, KOTOR 2, Republic Commando and Empire at War. All four of them have looked the biz at the time of release and been good as far as gameplay goes.

still, that does look quite impressive. would liked to have seen some actual swordplay with the lightsaber though

phantom menace for the ps1 was great in my opinion. a lot of good fun

jedi academy was also brilliant. never really got into kotor and the sequel but this game looks no bad.

loved the jango fett game too

have a friend who is a jedi in star wars galaxies....thats quite fun to watch too.

True. Lucasarts do not have a history of producing amazing games, but they do seem to be getting better. It's been a while since they released a horrifically bad Star Wars game.

LucasArts game studios released some PR info about a year and a half ago about how they were rethinking their video game strategies.

Since then we've had the relatively weak Empire at War (weak due to gameplay - once one side gets the super unit, it's game over), and the fantastic Lego Star Wars series.

This month's EGM has an article with the game designer at LucasArts where he explains the concept behind their new game creation - design it for 8 year old boys. If 8 yr olds don't love your game, noone will.

Right now, though, wake me when they offer Star Wars: Lightsaber Battles on the Wii. That's all anyone can really be wanting these days.

The Star Wars arcade game that was released a few years back was pretty good for an on-rails shooter. Deflecting Boba Fett's blaster bolts and fighting Vader between levels was awesome-o.

There isn't much info on the game yet, but it gives some more details on the games content and force abilities.

  • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
  • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
