| Commodore - The Return http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/06-03-2007-4930.html Quote:
Commodore Gaming has announced it will launch a new breed of gaming PCs that will see the return of the legendary Commodore brand.
Commodore is a name which will bring memories flooding back to many a gamer and it's been announced that the legendary brand is to return with a new range of high specification gaming PCs.
"25 years ago, Commodore launched the best selling personal computer of the late 20th Century, the C64, and defined the early computer games experience for millions of people worldwide," said Bala Keilman, CEO for Commodore Gaming. "We are privileged and excited to bring the Commodore brand back to the gaming community and mark a new chapter in its history with this exceptional machine. We're sure that it will deliver what gamers need and want."
The new Commodore PCs optimised for gaming will be launched at the CeBIT show in Germany on March 15 and attendees will be offered the chance to play the latest PC games using the purpose-built PCs.
Commodore Gaming is to make further announcements at the launch and promises that there are still some very exciting aspects of the product still to be revealed.

It's a venture capital group that purchased the Commodore Gaming name in 2005 from Commodore proper, noone from Commodore (least of all anyone involved with the C-64 or Amiga) is in any way involved in this. They've just licensed the name. Fuckers. |

| Re: Commodore - The Return I loved the introductory tape that came with the C64. "This is called hardware. Thats easy to remember cos if you dropped it on your foot, you'd go...OOOOWWWWW!" lol.
Yeah, the commodore name has been shoved about from company to company.
Does anyone know who has the rights to Amiga and the Amiga OS? I know it was Gateway for a while but I lost touch after that.
Sigh. The Amiga was right there as well for so many things. Babylon 5 space scenes were designed and rendered on them (with lightwave, I believe). The old Virtuality VR arcade games ran on two A2000s. The information board in the Royal College building at Strathy used to run from workbench. lol. Aaaah, the good old days.
I miss Clyde Radcliffe. lol. Time to get an emulator, I think.

That was my first experience of 3D actually, playing around with Lightwave on my uncle's Amiga. It came on like 20 floppy disks as far as I remember
And Monkey Island was excellent.
Christ. Just checked the dates and that was 13 or 14 years ago
