Silent Hill 3 - for the room with the giant mirror and the bathtub. Brrrr... and the 'other' hospital with the fucked up 'smoked glass' rooms and head fuck ambient noise.
And hefty good scares a-plenty in SH4. Hospital with 'things' in old incubator units? Gently swaying 'bodies' hanging in your peripheral vision?? The sound of grown men screaming as abominations with no skin or eyes run full pelt at you with clubs????

I still say the project zero games, unlike resi where you're trained in combat (mental police chick/ ex-airforce) in pz you're a 16 yo girl with a camera facing hosts. Ghosts by the way who don't give a shit about scenery and doors and will keep chasing you for a good bit. In my opinion the best part was not what yopu saw, it was what you heard and what they wanted you to think.

The first resident evil scared me, Resi 4 definately did, and when a Chimera jumps out of nowhere and grabs onto you in Resistance: Fall of Man, i always jump (which helps since you need to shake the sixaxis pad like fuck to get them off) | |

i was really scared of the first project zero, i dont mind shotting things and running away, but in that game u could do neither u walked away slowly while the ghosts chased u and all u had was a crappy camera *shudders* | |

AVP 1 was a great game, very scarey as the marine tho..
Aliens trilogy on the psx was a scarey one for me.
Have to say HL2 also, headcrabs still make me shit myself, esp those mad poison ones.! Quote:

Way back in the mists of time, I played my first fps, Wolfenstein 3D. Obviously its sorely dated by todays standards but when it first came out I had never seen anything like it, and I kinda overdosed on playing it. Coming through one of those huge sheet-metal doors and the screen suddenly flashing red when you get shot... it might not sound much now, but it frightened the bejezus out of me. Then again I was only a litlun at the time. The only thing that has come close since is System Shock 2, with the frequent mutant whisperings and the sudden clunky sound when one of them sneaks up behind you and whacks you over the head with a lead pipe. Silent Hill series comes in a respectable third place, all the rest are ho-hum.
