Also, thank fuck for the GBA port of Speedball 2. Meant I could get rid of my last Atari ST. | Aye, the GBA port was fantastic, both for that reason and in general

They’re going to give it a different subtitle, so instead of Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe it will be Speedball 2: Something Else. Besides, calling it Speedball 3 would make people automatically assume it was gonna be shite. They’re not stupid.
Oh aye, and apparently you’ll be able to play it as almost a straight port if you wish, by playing the one-button control setting and locking the view to a scrolling overhead camera.

| Re: Speedball 2 to return in 2007 - Design team headed by original programmer from The Bitmap Brothers Didn't they try doing this a few years back (with a focus on online play, with each every individual on the field being an actual single person, instead of one person controlling an entire team)? I assume that project got canned and this is something new?
EDIT: Answered my own question about 30 seconds later, that version of the game was to be called 'Speedball Arena', and it did indeed get canned a few years back. |

| Re: Speedball 2 to return in 2007 - Design team headed by original programmer from The Bitmap Brothers I'm going to go out on a limb and say this has potential to be better, I saw some footage of the origional (which I absoluted loved, 15 years ago, rose tinted nostalgia) and the control/gameplay seemed pretty poor, but with a better game engine and controls this game could be fantastic as the idea is pretty sound

The original Speedball was great fun, for its time. It lacked speed though. Shame that, given the name.
