| Re: Guitar Hero III That's generally a pretty decent list, but I'll add my voice to the call of this game being a total waste of time with Rock Band lurking in the aisles. Oh, and "Take This Life" - In Flames? Of all the tracks they've done, why this one? Nonsense. Should have been Pinball Map or Moonshield or something.

| Re: Guitar Hero III The number of master tracks versus cover tracks is pretty solid, but after hearing my mates come back from PAX this week and do nothing but holler about how freaking awesome Rock Band is...GH3 doesn't seem to be up for much. |

| Re: Guitar Hero III Thanks to an early xmas present from my mum, I've got GH3 and a 360 yesterday (and Rock Band in 2 weeks!)...from folks that have already played it, something's a bit off regarding the times to strum and hammer-ons/pull-offs but the song-list is pretty tight so I should be having a blast.
Heh, I knew I spent the last two weeks finishing GH2 on Expert for a reason - practice! |

| Re: Guitar Hero III And completed my first run-through on Medium.
Notes:
There appears to be either a bug with the controller or with the game that when I'm holding a long note and I tilt the guitar to turn on my "super power" or whatever, even though I have a firm grasp of that single long note it still discontinues being played for no reason I can discern.
Could be either wireless controller or the game, unsure.
Metallica - One: Freaking painful to play on Medium...nothing wrong with playing it, it just gives you a good 4-finger workout
AFI - Miss Murder: Absolutely great fun
The Killers - When You Were Young: Also great fun
The unlockable songs are nothing to write home about, but the main-game songs are a fantastic selection.
The boss battles feel a bit awkward at first, and by the time you're facing down the final boss you're far too freaking busy just trying to play the notes right that you don't give a toss about beating the other guy.
Overall, I feel this was a load of stuff that could have come out as downloadable content for GH2 - nothing really new, the hammer-ons and pull-offs warbled between songs. In some the timing was a lot more "loose", in others I needed to be spot-on perfect (even on second or third run-throughs of the same song to 5* it)...now I'm just hungry for Rock Band. |

I'm hyped for this, because the wireless guitar is a big boon for me, since I love spazzing around like I'm in the Dillinger Escape Plan, and FUCK SAKE Rock Band is going to cost a bomb because of all the peripherals. Not so bad if you split the cost between a group of yer mates, but as I live 100miles away from all my friends that's not really a viable option, so it'll get a miss for the time being.

| So-so, from the sounds of it they're actually going to get round to releasing the game solo without peripherals on release day, with GH3/GH2 guitars being fully compatible so if you just want to snake up the game and worry about getting bits piecemeal later on it's doable.
I do runs on Medium just to run through it, see how the songs play, and five-star 'em/100% em to unlock the things that 100% and five-star all songs unlocks on medium. Start on Hard later on today, and then I'll get around to expert.
Though really...Number of the Beast fucking DESTROYED me on medium (ditto One - but that was more an exercise in repetitive motions) |

| Re: Guitar Hero III I hear One is heavy on the upstrums, which is a bummer since I'm not exactly grand champ at those. Still, nothing to fear compared to this:
