| FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 FlatOut Ultimate Carnage came out earlier this week and it looks rather nifty. - Career racing - compete in progressively tougher championship wrecking your way through 3 classes to become the ultimate FlatOut champion.
- Arcade racing - Deathmatch Destruction Derbies, time trials and crash filled challenges
- 12 drivers in single player modes from a choice of 48 cars on 39 tracks in six different environments, allows you to wreck you way across parched deserts, massive storm drains and narrow city streets.
- Eight driver online multiplayer functionality, including all single player modes plus exclusive Deathmatch Derbies and Head On race modes.
Plus a good few other things and we'll have a full review coming soon.but heres some screen shot to get you salivating. You can also check out www.flatoutgame.com for more detailsl

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 I’m suspicious of any game that appears magically at the top of the HMV chart on day of release with little or no press about in the preceding months.

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 Flatout should sell loads because the games are probably better than the Burnout series but they have zero publicity before launch and obviously EA hype Burnout to fuck. |

And there's a few press releases here n there, but like anyone wants to cover any other game right now but BioShock and the Halo 3 Beta. |

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 You’re forgetting about dead tree press. Magazines have page quotas to fill.
There are generally two possible reasons for a game not getting talked about in the press in the lead up to launch: It’s from a small publisher and the PR team are rubbish/underfunded, or the game’s rubbish and the best PR strategy is to keep it away from the press until after release day, whilst paying chain stores to put it up front on display.

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 My dead tree press is entirely full of 10-15pages on BioShock and Rock Band. All of 'em. |

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 What, in the previews section and the reviews one? News too? Are the other sixty pages all just adverts?

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 Pretty much - asides from GameInformer (brought to you by GameStop), not many US gaming industry mags have much to talk about that hasn't already been covered by online media weeks before shipping date.
All the recent Kotaku mag scans for "news scoops" are coming from a copy of Game Informer I got like 2 weeks ago |

| Re: FlatOut Ultimate Carnage on the 360 From what I can see, gaming mags over here have moved away from trying to report things as ‘news’ and are going for big and glossy, or more in-depth, rather than trying in vain to keep up with web-based journalism. Even the much-loved coverdiscs are going the way of the buffalo now that current-gen consoles have mature downloadable demo services. Edge still manages to be miles ahead of the pack, mind you. Their reputation and contacts list still gets them access to things that are nowhere near PR departments yet.

This month's Edge doesn't contain anything about Bioshock but has at least a page, sometimes two on Halo 3, GTA IV, Assassin's Creed, Beautiful Katamari etc. |
