| Re: Video game music Heh, maybe he's embarassed he can't sing as high as Ellen McLain.
I don't have a glockenspiel to hand to compare the two versions but it sounds similar musically.
Could be wrong, better things to care about, happy to differ etcetera et-fucking-cetera. |

| Re: Video game music I laughed for about an hour after completing Portal, then looked up the song, then listened to it.
It then occurred to me that there was nothing else to do with it. I could foist the mp3 on all of my friends but why bother, they're not going to enjoy it half as much without having played through Portal. The song itself isn't funny or tuneful enough when removed from the context of the game to bother covering. Could remix it, I suppose. Nah, whats the point, the original with McLain beautifully vocodered voice is pretty much perfect/as good as it gets.
Maybe I could just enjoy it for what it is. Nah, lets analyse it to death. |

| Re: Video game music I remember when I was playing my way through every damn game on Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the GameCube last year I actually had to stop playing at various points just to bust some air guitar. When you just sit and listen to its own, you realise just HOW short it is and that it is just looping like fuck and maybe even pretty annoying. But when you play the game you're too busy thinking MAN THIS MUSIC HAS ME LIKE SO FUCKING PUMPED RIGHT NOW to really notice. |

I seriously need to find the album online! | Most of the sountrack is on YouTube, here's the ending - lasts 20 minutes in total (and every time I've finished the game I've been in a rush ) but unfailingly awesome. The first part is actually really moving (certainly the first 8 minutes or so before the tune changes to what takes up the first two minutes of part two) and I've been listening to it on repeat recently. Brilliant.

| Re: Video game music Any of you guys ever play the massively underrated game Hardwar? That had some truly fucking awesome music in it. So good I used to stick the game CD into my CD player and just listen to the music off the game (was in mp3 format).
Another one I loved was the music in Super Mario 64 when your in the sort of underground dungeon in the castle, with water. I don't know the actual name of the tune, but recognise it from all Mario games, but this one was remixed. Had a look but couldn't find it.
