| C&C3: Kane's Wrath - New Expansion Due Q2 2008 EA Games have announced that Command & Conquer 3 will be recieveing an expansion in early 2008. The expansion, titled Kane's Wrath will be available ‘early’ in 2008 for both PC and Xbox 360, and will include an improved radial interface menu system for the latter.
New features for the game include a set of new campaigns which take the player from the end of the Second Tiberium War (as seen in Tiberium Sun) to the Third Tiberium War and beyond, new units, sub-factions for NOD, GDI and the Scrin and a “new strategic layer to gameplay”.
And most importantly, Joe Kucan will be playing Kane once again.
More info can be found in GameSpot's Q&A with the producer of C&C3. |

Got two screenshots and a nice piece of concept art (which I reckon will be used for the cover art). Click for bigger versions of them. |

Mind you I'm kind of in agreement that I'm not really ready to shell out £40 for a graphics update. Still I'm tempted by this.

And the levels weren't anywhere near as well-designed as 'Red Alert'.
I was so bored by it I didn't even give the multiplayer a go but I watched my flatmate play it a few times and it seemed incredibly one-dimensional. |

It just doesn't make me go “Wow” in the same way Tiberium Dawn, Tiberium Sun and Red Alert did. Demo wasn't that great either.
It could have been better if Westwood was still in charge of the C&C development, but most of the old C&C devs left EA to form Petroglyph. Empire at War was pretty good, but not quite to my taste. |

To balance out my negativity earlier, I would like to point out that this game does have at least one thing going for it - the chick from 'House' is pretty hot in the cutscenes and in-game orders. But I do love a stern woman. |

| C&C 3 expansion - Kane's Wrath http://www.ea.com/article.jsp?id=kaneswrath0815 http://www.gamereplays.org/KanesWrat...player_preview
Tiberium Wars fortunately proved to be fantastic. Now, we get the expansion and I reckon it should be even better.
Kane is, of course, still alive. But perhaps more interesting than what happens after the 3rd Tiberium Wars is what happened between the first and second. Kane's Wrath fills in the gap. A lot did happen, of course, including the move to classify all the world as either red yellow or blue zones, and the redefining of power bases within those zones.
The two most interesting main aspects of this game are: 1. The campaign is now a "global conquest" style thing, and thus for the first time completely non-linear. 2. We have new factions!
In addition to the 3 main boys, all of whom return of course, of GDI, Nod and Scrin, each has two additional subfactions. For those who can't be arsed reading the links, they are:
GDI: The Steel Talons. Heavy hitting firepower boys, these get Titans and Wolverines from Tiberian Sun (they were retired, but this game fills in a gap remember!) They have various vehicular advantages, including infantry bunkers on harvesters, but can only train a very limited infantry (so no Zone Troopers or Commandos, before people start thinking there's no noticable downside)
GDI: ZOCOM. The polar opposite, these guys focus on reclaiming red zones, so Tiberium resistance and sonic technology in infantry and air units (Orcas have sonic weapons with them) is the focus
Nod: Black Hand. This was inevitable, and utterly gleeful! The elite of Nod since the start of C&C , in exchange for no air or stealth units their infantry is insanely powerful, and so is their flameweaponry. Yes, they were flamethrowers in C&C 3, but now they are (deservedly) a faction in their own right.
Nod: Marked of Kane. Again, the opposite of the other faction, these guys focus on the Tiberium and Cyborg weaponry, and are thus the direct counterparts to the GDI Steel Talons in the post Firestorm world of C&C. I can imagine these being a lot of fun to play as.
Scrin: Reaper 17. The Scrin's main advantage was air units, so its a surprise to see this - a shock trooper faction with heavy vehicles and better harvesting, but no air units! This seems like a way for traditional GDI players to enjoy the Scin, seeing as their vehicles and economy really do look insanely powerful
Scrin: Traveller 59. Obviously the opposite of Reaper 17, speed and transportation and mind control is the emphasis. It seems to make them the equivalent of Yuri from RA2. In other words, probably pretty shite except in the hands of a very few utterly utterly annoying people who can use mind control as an cheap alternative for real tactics.
Each of the 3 main factions also has an epic unit, although exactly how balanced they will be remains to be seen.
Good God I'm looking forward to this! Release date: Q2 2008

| Re: C&C 3 Expansion - Kane's Wrath Sounds like C&C Generals meets the Tiberium series.
I might get round to buying C&C3 when this comes out. Hopefully get some discounts on Amazon et al. |

| Re: C&C3: Kane's Wrath - New Expansion Due Q2 2008 Got it today, fucking fantastic so far!
The Campaign is 3 acts - 1 is between Tiberium Wars 2 and 3, 2 is during but separate to C&C 3, and 3 is set after it. I've played as the Black Hand against the Steel Talons (hardly suprising they have made early appearances) and it's damn impressive stuff. Getting to grips with the Black Hand's infantry focus is tough but I reckon with perserverance they could be awesome - annoyingly though they lack vehicle lasers, which also now apply to Raider Buggies! Very useful! They do get an infantry and shredder laser instead though. The Talons are extremely powerful, and Titans and Wolverines returning is a very good thing. Plus since GDI have a new anti-air unit, you can't simply Venom the bastards to death. Especially if you're Black Hand since you don't get any aircraft or stealth.
Infantry specialists versus vehicle specialists...tough battle! Interesting one though.
Interesting little side note - the .exe file for the game is C&C3ep1 - does that suggest we're going to get Episodes 2 and 3 telling the tale of the GDI and Scrin? We can only hope so!
