| Re: What games are you playing right now? Just downloaded Mario Kart 64 on the Virtual Console. Having never played it before, only ever hearing the hype, I'm pretty disappointed that I just sat down and got 1st place on my first attempt for every cup in one sitting. The levels seem surprisingly bland, as well.
There are all these things on the courses that I assume are supposed to "add depth", but they're just fucking annoying. The Bow Wows/Chain-Chomps on Rainbow Road or the cars on Toad's Turnpike are cool because there's some kind of skill involved in seeing them and making a split-secodn decision to switch to the other side of the track to avoid them, but things like the train in Kalimari Desert and the big eggs in Yoshi Valley are just a pain in the arse, because "if they're there then they're there" and you need to wait for them to pass. Why slow a racing game down to an utter halt like that??
The music's pretty bland and it annoys me that little cups don't show up beside a course name to show I've tanned it, but all in all it's still Mario Kart and it's still pure awesome. The SNES one is so much more satisfying, though. By like a million miles.

| Re: What games are you playing right now? Ratchet & Clank on my nice shiny new PS3. Its better than Gladiators but gameplay still seems slightly off in comparison to older Ratchet titles.
Cheers!

| Re: What games are you playing right now? Sticking to a "only playing one major game per system at a time" routine:
XB360 - Bioshock
Wii - Metroid Prime 3
PS2 - Fatal Frame III
DS - Mario & Luigi Partners In Time
PC - Freedom Force
I'm allowing myself to break this rule for a handful of "pick up and play" arcade-style games... mostly shmups... Omega Five, Trigger Heart Excelica, Soldier Blade, Geometry Wars, Nanostray 2 are all on my playlist... I love me a good shmup... and of course a little Rez HD on the side. |

ROLL ON MARIO KART WII~!!! | Do mind that the game was released 12 years ago, so the music is bound to show it's age. BTW 150CC is significantly harder, but the race AI scales to your ability - if you learn how to powerslide you will find the races harder. But the game is well gay on the Virtual Console, original copy all the way!
The reason everybody loves that game is because of the multiplayer mode, it is by far the best multiplayer I've ever played. I far prefer it to Goldeneye.
But I share your excitement for Mario Kart Wii! Got it preordered.
The game I'm currently playing just now is The Witcher. Very, very, very, very good RPG. Best one I've played since Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. Very dark, and very cool. Though the dialogue is pretty confusing at points. It's sold pretty well so hopefully there will be a sequel. I can't believe the game runs on the old Neverwinter Nights 1 Aurora engine, it looks fucking superb with all the tweaking they've done to it.
*big RPG fan btw*
