Tried Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and it loaded into what appears to just be Safe Mode. Fuck it, the old PC is getting humphed down tomorrow, and at the weekend I'll try find an old motherboard and processor for it, or at least try and work out why it keeps locking up completely.

What game you trying to run, Day of the Tentacle? I think that uses Scummware (the same control panel as Monkey Island and StS) in which case you might not even need to run DOS.

Apparantly http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ is pretty good for getting stuff to work, never been able to find anything there myself.

Baldurs Gate series of games are quite enjoyable. Although it pisses you off if you had got pretty far on yer mates PC then have to restart a full adventure cause he deleted it. Still haven't completed any of them bar Icewind Dale. Might go find a bargain bucket and buy all of them.

Fallout 1 was just amazing, I never got into the second one quite the same. However, people seem to bum it up a little more. Also need to find Fallout Tactics, I hear thats even more "Point, Click, Kill".

Checkout Neverwinter Nights, I had the Gold Edition pack with all the add-ons. It seems pretty kick ass, but one of those really really long winded games.

if you want to play dos games get these to things (a dos emulator and a frontend for xp for it)

DOSBox - the dos emulator

d-fend v2 - the front end

just install dosbox, remembering where you put it.
then install d-fend and it will ask you where dosbox is.

use the setup wizard to add a profile. each game can have its own settings, you can even change the speed you want the game to run at.

i love most of the games already talk about. you could try little big adventure 1/2, cant remember if its mouse based, but it is a adventure game.

edit: you just need to run d-fend anytime you want to run any of the games.
ive managed to get monkey island, descent 2, 1869 and other games running on it, its pretty easy to use.
