| A quick question about monthly bank statements Ok, I realize this is a stupid question, but I'm thick as Addy some times.
I've not been tracking my spending lately, so I dig out my last statement (6th June) and it says I my balance is £1000 at the close of June 6th, then below it says my over draft limit is £100. Does this mean I have £1, 100 available, or £1, 000 available?
These are fictional figures. |

These are fictional figures. | What part of basic arithmetic don't you understand? If you are being serious then contact your bank or local branch of it and they will give you an accurate figure, then allow for an increase by the amount of your overdraft.
Jeez.... |

Jeez.... | Some statements/mini statements have an available balance and a balance figure on them, which when only one is listed could lead to confusion over which is being referred to. I hardly think it was the arithmetic that was troubling anyone, but obviously nothing can take away the shine of smug gratification you seem to have at being able to add 1000+100.

Some statements and mini-statements will have a ledger balance, available funds & a cleared balance which can often differ from bank to bank.
If it's an actual printed statement then the overdraft won't be added on to the balance, as it's only really taken into account when you consider your available funds these days with most banks.
Always best to check before you go spending money, though. (Y) |

Jeez.... | Charliecat nailed it, but just one more point, I wanted to know my situation immediately, and contacting my bank at 1am in the morning is not an option. Fuck-arse. |
