| Re: Another score for the curvy burds.. Al, do you have any links to the actual research? This reads like a lot of baws...for example were the women who were quizzed voluptuous after having children, during pregnancy or pre? What is the omega-3 link exactly (very vague) and is this purely questionnaire based with what stats and how was multiple testing corrected for? I really, really hate BBC news sometimes as the science is generally utter mince reported by clueless journalists.
Having an hourglass figure is not necessarily unhealthy, but I find it difficult to believe there's an intelligence link especially since IQ is one of the most difficult traits to determine. |

IQ is not that simple to measure but more to the point IQ is very changeable depending on the statistical approach used to define and quantify (if you will). Quote:

Raging? What, you serious? | Intelligence quotient is the measure used to rate and scale intelligence quotientmeasuring it is fairly easy - the methods being questionnaires and tests the statistically methods employed usually aren't far and above that used in everyday run of the mill questionnaire scoring and analysis. Matching IQ to actual intelligence is nigh on impossible because nobody has actually agreeded on a de facto all encompassing definition for intelligence. IQ measures verbal reasoning, logic and spatial awareness fairly well and fairly easily. |

IQ measures verbal reasoning, logic and spatial awareness fairly well and fairly easily. | Many general IQ tests are education based (altho, they shouldn't be) which does not measure IQ in any way. Also, stats tests used to qualify and quantify IQ vary to the degree that a post hoc test can be significant simply by employing Tukey rather than Bonferroni (or whatever). |
