| Electric Shocks from light bulb socket After changing a bulb for my flatmate, and her neglecting to tell me that the light switch wasn't off, I (albeit accidently) touched the inside of the socket and gave myself a relatively big electric shock.
Clearly I survived this trauma and I am generally ok (although my hand is slightly shaky, although that may be because I shat myself), and my heart rate etc seem fine, but has this happened to anyone else? I'm not going to die of a heart attack in the middle of the night, am I?

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket That's what I thought, aye, but didn't know if either:
1) It'll cause problems in future - i.e. kill me in the night
or
2) Give me super powers.

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket I’m not a doctor, but I have received shocks from the mains a few times over the years. Curse of the careless DIYer. I haven’t died yet. Nae apparent superpowers either, more’s the pity. It’d be pretty cool to shoot electricity from your fingernails, or something.

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket people always say that shit, but i mean....pretty much anything that me or my mates couldnt answer or find, ever - for the last few years ive asked the forum and always got an answer, most of the time which is right. So its a pretty good resource,
i mean, he obviously doesnt wanna bother the doctor (hes a guy!) with shit when its not even sore. just needs a few folk to be like "aye, its nae baw hair" - and hes cool. |

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket Exactly - Poprock's assuring 'I've been shocked several times and i'm fine', is what I was after really.

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket i've had medium-bad shocks from the mains a couple of times and it wasn't any fun but it didn't damage me.
super-power wise, i had those before the shocks so no effect there either.

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket In keeping with the tone of the thread:
When i was about 12 and getting into being able to change plugs and that I put a plug in a socket without the back on it.
Swtiched it on, it was fine.
Went to pull it out, and pretty much blew myself across the room.
Well, it obviously wasn't that bad, but it felt that bad. |

| Re: Electric Shocks from light bulb socket I used to play with plugs when i was younger, taking the backs off them and plugging them in and touching the live metal bits to get that weird tingly sensation up my arms.
